Remembering Lilly Pulitzer (1931-2013)
From Team JAB
What better time to celebrate the life of Lilly Pulitzer than the start of springtime in South Florida? The iconic designer's bright and happy prints became a staple in the closets of Palm Beach socialites in the 1960s. Her former classmate, Jackie Kennedy, helped launch Lilly Pulitzer's style to women and children all over the world after she famously wore one of her dresses. So, as you enjoy the striking colors and exotic blooms that spring brings, remember Lilly Pulitzer, who brought a bit of that magic to our wardrobes!

Eyes on LASIK I am researching to see whether my daughter is a candidate for LASIK eye surgery. She has severe astigmatism so I'm not sure if she would qualify for this surgery or another non-evasive correction. Has anyone had LASIK surgery that corrected their astigmatism? If you had a positive experience with a group, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks for any suggestions or advice!

Contain Yourself
From Team JAB Don't have room for a garden? Don't worry. Try your hand at a terrarium. All you need is a spoon, a container and a quick trip to the garden supply store. Green thumb optional! Materials Clear glass container (mason jars, fish bowls or apothecary jars work well)Pea gravel or small pebbles Activated charcoal Sphagnum moss Potting soil Plants Figurines for decoration, optional
Instructions Sterilize a glass container. Place 1-2 inches of gravel on the bottom of the container. Sprinkle with activated charcoal. Add a layer of sphagnum moss. Top with 2-3 inches of soil.
Remove plants from their pots and remove excess soil from roots. Using a spoon, dig small holes in the soil and place plants in desired layout. Add water and keep water level just below the moss layer. Place terrarium in a well lit area, but away from direct sunlight.
Note: Tropical gardens thrive well in a closed container, while succulent gardens need to remain open.
