 Dear JABBERS: As Valentine's Day approaches once again, I want to thank each of you for being my Valentine - and each other's too. Since we launched JAB five years ago, I have had the pleasure of watching you all open your hearts to each other in so many ways, I can't even keep track. You have supported  each other's causes. you have reached out to help each other's children and elderly parents. You have given blood for each other. You have donated money and personal items. You have cooked meals for each other. You have driven each other around. You have prayed for each other. You have lifted each other up. You have shared your most coveted resources. You have offered your time, treasure and talent to perfect strangers and close friends alike. And so much more... Love is truly in the air this Valentine's Day thanks to you, our incredible community of JABBERS. Thank you for all that you do for each other each and every day. Flower Power From Team JAB Smell the love with a dreamy flower arrangement that you can do at home! This fragrant display is sure to brighten up your day. Start your bouquet with a bunch of pink garden roses and soft yellow tea roses in the center of a short vase. Surround the roses with light pink/orange cala lilies and light pink peonies. Tips: Cut floral foam to fit in vase. Secure fleshy flower stems with bamboo skewers and floral wire, then stick into floral foam. Add a penny to the water to keep your flowers staying fresher for longer. |

Sugar High! From Team JAB  Chocolate is the name of the game on Valentine's Day. Take a look at these sweet facts from The National Confectioners Association: - More than 36 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolate will be sold for Valentine's Day. A survey conducted by the Chocolate Manufacturers Association revealed that 50 percent of women will likely give a gift of chocolate to a guy for Valentine's Day.
- Valentine's Day is the fourth biggest holiday of the year for confectionery purchases (after Halloween, Easter and Christmas).
- American men say they'd rather receive chocolate than flowers on Valentine's Day, especially those over the age of 50. Sixty-eight percent of men age 50 or older say they'd prefer to receive chocolate over flowers from their sweetheart on Valentine's Day, while just 22 percent said they'd rather have the flowers.

The Perfect Place to Wine and Dine From Boo Zamek  As my personal Valentine's Day gift to you, JABBERS, I would like to introduce you to my new favorite restaurant: Frenchies American Diner. This Diner - really more of a bistro - has the makings of a perfect eatery: well-located (Coral Gables), well-run (Miami-born and French-trained chef Shannon Cane Castrec runs it with her French husband, Gabriel Castrec) and well-lit (the decor and ambiance is simply perfect). And the food ... OH, JABBERS, the food. From the foie gras to mussels to the steak béarnaise to the croque monsieur to the crab cakes - it's impossible to choose a favorite dish, though the chocolate mousse recipe below is a contender. The Sweet Spot From Team JAB  Looking for a way to wow your sweetheart? Then whip up this heavenly Chocolate Mousse recipe from Shannon Cane Castrec, chef at Frenchies American Diner. Ingredients 7 ounces dark chocolate, chopped 6 eggs, separated, room temperature 2/3 cup sugar Whipped cream, optional Directions Place a pot 1/3 full of water over medium heat. Put the chopped chocolate in a large stainless steel bowl and place on top of pot. Stir with a rubber spatula until chocolate is melted. Remove bowl with chocolate and whisk in the six yolks. Set aside. Place egg whites in a bowl of a stand mixer fit with the whisk attachment. Beat whites at medium speed until they reach soft peaks and with motor running, add sugar. Increase speed to medium-high and beat until whites are glossy, around two minutes. Place 1/3 of the whites on top of the chocolate and fold on using a rubber spatula. This lightens the chocolate to make the rest of the folding easier. Fold in the remaining whites and divide into glasses of your choice. Chill for at least one hour before serving.
