CALLING ALL DEBORAHS (Debby, Devorah)!  Are you named after Deborah? Come to our Rosh Chodesh woman's group for an entertaining and enlightening discussion about Deborah led by Nina Green and Harriet Kantrowitz. Deborah was truly a modern woman - mother of three sons - divorced, career lawyer and prophet - as well as being a beautiful woman who used her feminine wiles to advantage.

The hour of study and discussion will be followed by light refreshments and socializing.

The Resounding Prophetic Voice: Chanting Haftarahhaftarah 
Sundays at 9:30 am    April 14 & 21, May 12

haftarah Join Cantor Michael and learn to chant Haftarah trope. Emphasis will be placed on textural accuracy and precision in regard to the Te'amim, the chanting symbols that reveal the word accents and the syntax of the Prophetic prose and poetry. We will also explore the history of the Masoretes, those who developed the system of the Te'amim and added vowels to the Biblical text, and the origin of the Haftarah itself.

"Synagogues in Transformation: Models for the 21st Century"

An exploration of the history of the American Synagogue, current challenges, and prospects for the future will be followed by workshops on rethinking synagogue dues, lifelong learning in the synagogue, the synagogue as an agent for social change, and what synagogues and independent minyanim can learn from one another. Symposium cost is $30 per person.
