The thing is, that stress can also manifest itself in the other parts of our body."



STRETCHING BEFORE JOGGING OR EXERCISING IS WISE

As Reflexologists, staying healthy should be our number one priority. Going to the gym?  Or going for a nice bike ride?  Or perhaps you're just going to work in your garden.

When you're going to do any form of physical exercise, root yourself in healthy habits by using proper body mechanics. Recognize your limitations, take breaks, and stay hydrated.  Be aware of your body and if you experience pain, STOP.


A Few Sample Stretches 
 
Neck and Shoulders:
→Roll your shoulders back in a circular motion and slowly move your head from side to side a few times to loosen up.

→Grasp elbow with opposite hand. Pull elbow and arm across chest until you feel a gentle stretch at back of arm; make sure shoulder isn't hunched. Repeat on other side.

→Clasp hands behind head. Press elbows back until you feel a gentle stretch at front of shoulders.
 
Lower Back:
→Lie on your back, and bring a knee to your chest, and hold this position for a few moments. Gently grasp behind your knee and extend the knee to achieve as fully a straightened position as you can. Hold this position for up to 20 seconds.

→Lie on back and keep knees bent and feet flat on floor. Keeping the knees together, move the knees to the left than move them to the right, gently rotating the lower spine.

→While standing, place hands firmly on hips, and bend backwards until you feel a stretch. Clasp hands together over head. Lean to one side, keeping back straight, until you feel a stretch in your side. Repeat on other side.

→Use a wall for support, grasp ankle behind you. Push leg back to stretch front of thigh, keeping thigh in line with body. Repeat on other side.

RAA 2016 NATIONAL CONFERENCE
