LifeHappens.org coordinates Life Insurance Awareness Month to help educate consumers about the importance of owning life insurance to protect their families. We also owe Board Member and Community Service Chairperson Alicia Burst a big Thank You for having our Mayor, Lenny Curry, to sign a proclamation in Jacksonville proclaiming September as Life Insurance Awareness Month in the City of Jacksonville!

Summer Legislative Visits
Our very active IFAPIC committee had their annual summer legislative visits in August with local Representatives while they were in Jacksonville during their summer break. NAIFA-Jacksonville members met with Representative Lake Ray, Representative Charles McBurney, Representative Cyndi Stevenson, Senator Rob Bradley and Congressman Ander Crenshaw, Senator Aaron Bean, and Congressman Ron DeSantis to name a few.

NAIFA-Jax Joins Florida's "Learn to Save" Challenge!
Florida's "Learn to Save" Challenge, hosted by Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater, is now open! Florida is home to an abundance of young filmmakers and artists seeking to jump start their future careers. We want to nurture this ambition, while encouraging them to learn about finances, especially budgeting and saving. Middle and high school students in Florida are challenged to creatively illustrate the importance of financial literacy for a chance to win monetary prizes and have their creation displayed in their region.

Agency Registration to License Conversion
House Bill 633, passed by the Florida Legislature in 2014, included significant changes to agency licensing. One of these changes repealed the provision that allows insurance agencies to obtain a registration in lieu of a license, and converts all agency registrations to licenses on October 1, 2015.
if your agency holds a registration with the Florida Department of Financial Services, your agency's registration will be converted to a license, in accordance with the changes outlined in House Bill 633.

NAIFA-Jax Presents the 215 LHVA Prelicensing Course ~ Live and Online!
The September course is 40 hours across four 10-hour days, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, from 8:00 am - 6:30 pm with a one-hour lunch break.
Please note that HB 1133 that was recently approved will take effect on October 1, 2015. Beginning in October, the course will run 60 hours and the price will increase from $149 to $200. September's live class is the last opportunity to take advantage of the shorter class and cheaper price! The live classroom course dates through 2015 are below and our 2016 dates will be announced soon.
