S. Roger Dominey, CLU, CFP, ChFC

We have planned many great meetings to help you achieve success in 2014. Here is our luncheon line up for the year.

On January 22nd we will host the Annual Awards luncheon recognizing the 2013 recipient of the C.G. Snead/J.F. Bryan, III Memorial Award, the 2013 recipient of the Community Service Award, (NQA) recognizes the National Quality Award recipients as well as the MDRT qualifiers, NAIFA Jacksonville (JALU) Past Presidents and much more followed by 1 hour of CE moderated by Michael Halloran.  On February 26th, Luther Beauchamp, attorney; March 26th, our Young Advisors Panel; and April 8th, National Speaker - Barry Lundquist, President of the Council for Disability Awareness (a joint meeting with the Society of FSP) just in time to prepare for DIAM in May. May 28th is our Annual Meeting with elections of our 2014-2015 leaders, and June 25th will feature the installation of officers and special speaker. We are also hosting another Day of CE on Monday, February 21st

On March 11th and 12th, we will be traveling to Tallahassee for our Day On the Hill. If you have not attended or it has been some time since you last attended, please make plans to attend. This year we are already hearing of a potential STOLI (Strange Originated Life Insurance) bill. We have also learned that a specific carrier is looking to the state to form a term license only, thus reducing the requirements to this group of agents. There are a few other issues that we are watching closely as well. As you know there will be some talk about property insurance, and I don't think a session could take place without that.

As many of you are aware we have a PAC (Political Action Committee), and a PIC (Political Involvement Committee). These 2 committees work hand in hand to first raise money to contribute to candidates (PAC) and then PIC with the help of PAC delivers those funds. The money collected and contributed to the candidates helps us have a seat at the table. With that money we are able to sit with the candidates and express our views and concerns. At both the state and national level our PAC and PIC are considered the best. If you would like to get involved in either committee or contribute please contact our office.

We look forward to seeing you at our meetings, please join us.

TEAM: Together Everyone Achieves More.

Our hope is that you have a great year,

Roger

We all need periods of retreat. I hope that each and every one of you were able to retreat and reenergize over the holidays. Now, you are full of ideas and vitality - right? Not always.

During my year at Leadership Jacksonville we discussed Leadership vs Trusteeship. We discussed the "Black Blob" this inner self, vastly unknown because people/leaders focus on the external, not the internal. Have you met some really nice people yet the minute something goes wrong with their external world, they lash out at every person in their path?
Even Outward Bound's mantra is "if you can't get out, go in," meaning we have to get in touch with our inner self.

So, if you are feeling rejuvenated or not quite there yet - think about your greatness. Your purpose, your courage ( I mean you chose this great industry so you must be courageous!). The goal is to be integrated to reduce the power of the black blob. We can also say it is true acceptance, "I am not perfect. You are not perfect, and its all okay!"

Finally, here was our mantra at Leadership Jacksonville: "Each of us must first accept the responsibility, first for our own life, secondly for the lives of others around us, and thirdly, for our own community so that these public responsibilities become the final crown on each life, the climax of our education."

My wish for you is clarity and vision to attain all your goals in 2014.
