Children of Paradise...Successful Parenting for Prosperous Families
Successful parents want to give their children the best of everything yet they are often sadly disappointed with the results as they witness young adults who are poorly motivated, irresponsible, financially demanding and troubled. Parents are perplexed about how to deal with their success in order to be able to provide the right environment, opportunities and "coaching" so that their children will develop into emotionally healthy, competent, responsible adults. Unfortunately children don't come with detailed instruction manuals and so it is necessary for each family to develop their unique strategic plan to achieve their desired results.
Children of Paradise provides the audience with specific action plans for dealing with these critical parenting challenges:
Building Strong Self Esteem
Establishing realistic expectations
Creating competency and confidence
Effective communication
Managing parenting time and energy effectively
Bratproofing
Financial parenting
Responsible wealth transfer strategies

Teacher Luncheon
Dear Parents:
We will be hosting an Appreciation Luncheon on Friday, December 14th, right after early dismissal and ask for your help in providing an array of delicious foods to share. If you have a favorite dish everyone loves, something always requested at parties, so delicious your family always begs you for the recipe, that's what you should send to the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon.
THE THEME THIS YEAR IS WINTER WONDERLAND.
In order to better organize the luncheon, we'd like the following grades to be responsible for the following menu choices (UNLESS you have a specialty dish):
Kindergarten families: Desserts
1st Grade: Appetizers/Drinks (water bottles/cranberry juice/ice)
2nd Grade: Salads
3rd Grade: Side Dishes
4th Grade: Entrees
5th Grade: Entrees/side dishes
*Monetary donations are also welcome to cover the cost of decorations, plates, flowers etc. There will be a box located in the main office.
Bring your dish NO LATER than 10:00 a.m. that Friday morning. We'll be at the flagpole at drop-off with a big tray to wheel your dish in or you can bring it directly to the library.
We will have a variety of platters, bowls, serving pieces already at school. We will bring them all out on Monday, December 10th during drop-off. Feel free to take your pick, depending on what you're bringing, and take it home to return on Friday for the luncheon.
The teachers LOVE to know who made what. Could you please write your name on a card so we can place it next to your contribution? They want to be able to thank you later. And, don't forget to put your name on any serving pieces you bring, like salad tongs.
We greatly appreciate your willingness to help us show our great appreciation to our beloved teachers.
Please let us know what you plan to send for the Teacher's Appreciation Luncheon on Dec. 14th. Any questions, just ask!

Warner Nutrition Mission
Pumpkin
Since Holidays are around the corner I thought it would be nice if this entry had a delicious Pumpkin recipe!
Pumpkins are chock full of fiber and beta-carotene. Also, the free radical neutralizing powers of the carotenoids in pumpkins that may keep the cancer cells at bay can also help keep the skin wrinkle free.
Let's indulge this month with a rich fall favorite with the sweetness of pumpkin and butternut squash. You'll smell the crisp fall air and hear leaves crackling under your feet! Serve with a dollop of sour cream and fried sage leaves for an elegant presentation
2 cups Pacific Organic Creamy Butternut Squash Soup
2 cups Pacific Organic Free Range Chicken Broth
1 carton Pacific Organic Pumpkin Puree (17.6oz)
1 teaspoon brown sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
⅛ teaspoon pepper
¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 cup whipping cream
- Combine Pacific Organic Creamy Butternut Squash Soup with Pacific Organic Free Range Chicken Broth in a saucepan over medium heat and stir.
- Add in the Pacific Organic Pumpkin Puree, brown sugar, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and pumpkin pie spice and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Add the cream and cook until heated through, about 2 minutes.
Nutrition Mission Statement:
To form a group of like minded parents focused on student nutrition at Warner. Our intention is to inform students, parents, teachers and administrators about child nutrition and to be an advocate for nutritional changes. Everyone is welcome to join, whether you're mildly curious about child nutrition or already the most well-informed advocate.
For more information or to contribute and/or to be a part of our group please contact

Warner's "Kids Who Care" community service program offers many volunteer opportunities throughout the year for Warner parents and kids. This is a chance for our children to learn about the value of helping others and giving back to the community.
Click here for a list of planned community service events for the school year. Warner students who complete 10 hours of service by the end of the school year will earn a "Kids Who Care" certificate. The Warner student who earns the most hours will receive a special prize at the end of the year. And the Warner class that earns the most hours will be treated to a pizza party!
Click here for the form for tracking your child's hours. Forms should be submitted by the end of the school year.
Look for Warner sponsored events each month. If you would like more information or to suggest volunteer activities, please contact Laura LaCorte at llacorte@usc.edu

RALPHS
Help us earn money from Ralph's simply by scanning your Ralph's Reward Card with the scan bar code letter you received in the first day package next time you shop at Ralph's and they'll send Warner a percentage of your purchases. You need only scan the letter once to be in their system for the school year and just scan your Reward Card as usual. You need to scan it again even if you scanned it at the beginning of the last school year.
WESTSIDE PAVILION
Save your purchase receipts from the mall including restaurants, theatre and all the shops and by logging them in the Guest Services on the 2nd floor of the mall, mentioning WARNER for your school, they'll give us points which turns into dollars for our school at the end of the school year. Consider purchasing American Express Gift Cards from them which have the lowest fee and the highest points for WARNER!!
eSCRIP
eScrip has rebate relationships with many different vendors. Go to www.escrip.com and register your grocery cards (Pavilions, Vons); Macy's card; and all credit cards. Shop at your usual stores in town. If you use your registered card for a purchase, Warner automatically receives a percentage. If you go through escrip.com online shopping mall, many more merchants are available that will give Warner a % of your purchases. You must renew your Von's registration with escrip every September.
Target
Every time you use your Target Redcard or Target credit card when you shop, Warner gets 1% of your total purchases by calling 800-316-6142 and designating Warner as your school. Or register online at
www.target.com/redcard 1) Click "Take charge of education" 2) Click "enroll now" 3) select zip code and type 90024 and then select Warner Ave 4) type your redcard account number and name
This is an easy process and takes less than 5 minutes - please sign up.

Box Tops
eBoxTops are worth 10 cents each, and they add up fast! Our school can use the money to buy whatever it needs! Here's how:
Sign up to support Warner at: BTFE.COM/HERO
For all questions contact: Jacklin Yamin - jacklinyamin@sbcglobal.net or Anita Hedvat - hedvats@sbcglobal.net
There is potential for our school to earn thousands of dollars through these programs so PLEASE participate and sign up.
