SUPPORT OUR TROOPS THIS SEASON WITH CANDY & LETTERS!
Operation Gratitude sends thousands of care packages each year to our troops stationed overseas. To show our support, from November 1 - 7, the 5th grade classes will be collecting Halloween candy from Warner students to include in these care packages. Please encourage your kids to donate some of their candy collected from Halloween. All candy and chocolate are accepted, except pixie sticks and fun dip. The fifth graders will collect candy from the classrooms and collection boxes also will be set up outside the office.
On Tuesday, November 6, please join us to write personal letters, cards and draw pictures to include in the care packages to our troops. We will meet outside the kindergarten yard from 2 pm - 4 pm. This is a great opportunity for our students to show their appreciation and to bring a smile to a service member's face. Kids and parents of all ages are welcome.
This activity qualifies for community service credit so bring your community service tracking form if you plan to attend the November 6 letter writing event.
Please contact Laura LaCorte at llacorte@usc.edu if you have any questions or if you would like to make a donation to Operation Gratitude to help defray shipping costs.

Exhibition at UCLA Fowler Museum
I am delighted to inform you of a not-to-be-missed exhibition Light and Shadows: The Story of Iranian Jews that will open at UCLA's Fowler Museum on October 21, 2012, and run through March 10, 2013. This exhibition is the first of its kind in the United States. Through archaeological artifacts, illuminated manuscripts, Judaica, ceremonial garments, musical instruments, photographs and more, the exhibition showcases the dramatic history of Iranian Jews. Light and Shadows also examines contemporary Jewish populations still in Iran as well as in diasporic communities in Israel and the United States, with an emphasis on Los Angeles. We have planned engaging programs at the Museum, including a cooking class, concerts, performances, films, conversations, and lectures. You may read more about the exhibition and related programs at http://www.fowler.ucla.edu/exhibitions/light-and-shadows-story-iranian-jews .
We look forward to hosting members of your organization for guided visits and hope that you are able to take advantage of the many educational resources available to all.
Sincerely,
Saba Soomekh Light and Shadows Community Liaison Fowler Museum at UCLA
Corrie Siegel Education Manager Fowler Museum at UCLA

Kids Who Care - Warner Community Service
Warner's "Kids Who Care" community service program offers many volunteer opportunities throughout the year for Warner parents and kids. This is a chance for our children to learn about the value of helping others and giving back to the community.
Click here for a list of planned community service events for the school year. Warner students who complete 10 hours of service by the end of the school year will earn a "Kids Who Care" certificate. The Warner student who earns the most hours will receive a special prize at the end of the year. And the Warner class that earns the most hours will be treated to a pizza party!
Click here for the form for tracking your child's hours. Forms should be submitted by the end of the school year.
Look for Warner sponsored events each month. If you would like more information or to suggest volunteer activities, please contact Laura LaCorte at llacorte@usc.edu

RALPHS
Help us earn money from Ralph's simply by scanning your Ralph's Reward Card with the scan bar code letter you received in the first day package next time you shop at Ralph's and they'll send Warner a percentage of your purchases. You need only scan the letter once to be in their system for the school year and just scan your Reward Card as usual. You need to scan it again even if you scanned it at the beginning of the last school year.
WESTSIDE PAVILION
Save your purchase receipts from the mall including restaurants, theatre and all the shops and by logging them in the Guest Services on the 2nd floor of the mall, mentioning WARNER for your school, they'll give us points which turns into dollars for our school at the end of the school year. Consider purchasing American Express Gift Cards from them which have the lowest fee and the highest points for WARNER!!
eSCRIP
eScrip has rebate relationships with many different vendors. Go to www.escrip.com and register your grocery cards (Pavilions, Vons); Macy's card; and all credit cards. Shop at your usual stores in town. If you use your registered card for a purchase, Warner automatically receives a percentage. If you go through escrip.com online shopping mall, many more merchants are available that will give Warner a % of your purchases. You must renew your Von's registration with escrip every September.
Target
Every time you use your Target Redcard or Target credit card when you shop, Warner gets 1% of your total purchases by calling 800-316-6142 and designating Warner as your school. Or register online at
www.target.com/redcard 1) Click "Take charge of education" 2) Click "enroll now" 3) select zip code and type 90024 and then select Warner Ave 4) type your redcard account number and name
This is an easy process and takes less than 5 minutes - please sign up.

Box Tops
eBoxTops are worth 10 cents each, and they add up fast! Our school can use the money to buy whatever it needs! Here's how:
Sign up to support Warner at: BTFE.COM/HERO
For all questions contact: Jacklin Yamin - jacklinyamin@sbcglobal.net or Anita Hedvat - hedvats@sbcglobal.net
There is potential for our school to earn thousands of dollars through these programs so PLEASE participate and sign up.
THANK YOU for supporting Warner!!
