Passionate about

what I do

As we are in the heart of the holiday season, we have an opportunity to celebrate things we are thankful for, mourn someone or something that has been lost this year and also connect with those we might only hear from once a year.  What will you do with these opportunities?  How will you get through the holidays if you are not quite in the holiday spirit? Look below for some things to keep in mind and please read the quote of the month and put it to good use this holiday season.

Thank you to my wonderful husband, daughters, family back East, my friends, colleagues and clients. I get to do what I love every single day thanks to the support I receive from all of you.  May 2016 bring you joy and accomplishments beyond your wildest dreams.

As always, please pass along this newsletter to anyone you feel may benefit from it's content.

Sincerely,

From The Positive Perspective......
  • Plan your activities in accordance with what you can handle.  Consult a close friend or family member if you are not sure what that looks like.  Outside advice can be helpful.
  • Do not plan to visit so many people that you spend the whole day in the car.  You are allowed to enjoy the holiday too. If you are coming from out of town, instead of traveling to visit everyone's home, tell them where you will be and have some visitors come to you.  (I drove over 300 miles in one holiday weekend many years ago in order to see everyone, and I was not able to really enjoy the weekend myself as I was always watching the time to get to the next destination.  Will not do that again.)
  • Pick the top things you want to experience with each holiday and make those a priority.  Fit other events in only if time allows.
  • If you have to purchase gifts and bring them with you to a far-away place, consider on-line shopping and send the gifts to your final destination, such as a relative's home, and wrap them when you arrive.
  • Anticipate a potentially challenging holiday season if you have had an especially difficult tragedy this year and this is the first time you will be seeing close family and friends.  Plan ahead what you want to say about the situation and possibly even email those close family and friends ahead of time regarding what you need from them during the holiday.
  • Savor the moments with family and friends.  Post your holiday photos on social media after you have a chance to enjoy those moments.  Your concrete memories should last longer than your Facebook post.
  • I wish you all a wonderful holiday season filled with joy and satisfaction.  Those of you experiencing grief and struggles at this time will be in my thoughts for sure.
