Dear Imagine Families,

This week we administer the SAT10                                                      to all studenCincoDeMayots in Kindergarten through Grade 8. Testing is scheduled for Monday - Wednesday morning.  This achievement test is nationally normed and is not timed.  It will be a quiet campus on these three days with no parent volunteers allowed on campus until after 11 each day.

Middle School Spanish class students will explore the Mexican Holiday Cinco de Mayo by making posters, sampling churros, chips con queso y salsa & agua de limon (limonade) as well as learning about Piņatas. Did you know that in addition to candies Hispanic countries add things like small oranges, money, or small top toys to their pinatas?

Kindergarten Orientation- We're planning an afternoon for our current kindergarten students to host a welcome to the new kindergarten students that are registered for Imagine School.  The date is May 16th from 1:30-2:30.  Students will spend the first 30 minutes with their kindergarten buddies in a classroom, while the parents spend time with the principal learning more about Imagine School.  The second half hour the students will join their parents in the cafeteria for a snack.

Grade 6 Parent Orientation- We've scheduled an evening parent information session on May 16th at 6pm.  If you would like to attend an orientation,  please click here to complete a survey that provides questions you'd like answered on the 16th.

Grade 6 Orientation
- An orientation for our fifth grade students moving to Middle School, and for all our newly registered sixth graders for next year is scheduled for May 22nd from 1:30-3.  The students will hear an overview of sixth grade from the sixth grade team, participate in some team-building activities so the students get to know each other,  question and answer session with current grade 6 students, and a snack.

This week's newsletter issue includes the region science fair results, the latest issue of Imaginings, information on a math contest, and some repeated items.
Region Science Fair
ScienceFair2
Our students that earned a first or second place in the school science fair participated in the West Florida Imagine School Science Fair on May 2nd.  They traveled to Bradenton to compete with other Imagine Schools from Pinellas, Manatee and Sarasota counties.  We're so proud that so many of our students and their projects were eligible to go onto the Imagine State Science Fair in Orlando on May 18th.  The results are below and the students highlighted in yellow will move onto the State Science Fair.

Parent Request Letters
Letter This is the time of year that parents ask whether they can request a specific teacher.  Here is my belief about the role of parent request letters:
  1. Parents know their child better than anyone else.
  2. Parents know what they'd like to see for their child
  3. Parents do not know a teacher unless one of your other children had the same teacher. ( And remember, what's good for one sibling isn't necessarily what's best for the next one.)
  4. One parent's recommendation isn't necessarily what your experience would be.  All children are different.

Parents may send a letter that talks about what you know best-  your child. Parents may request a specific teacher if a sibling had that teacher and you believe it would be beneficial for the next child also. Parents may request not to have a specific teacher if a sibling had that teacher and you don't think it would be a good fit. Parent request letters requesting a specific teacher based on recommendations will be returned to you.

Please send any letters to the principal.  I hope this helps.
