CitiOpera is pleased to offer a complimentary
DOUBLE PASS
to current IIC Members/Students on
Wednesday 4 November.
To win your double pass, reply to this email and write in the subject line CENERENTOLA.
Conducted by Trevor Jones

Written after the successful Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La Cenerentola demonstrates Rossini's mastery of opera buffa (comic opera) in its various arias and ensembles.
Whilst most audiences prepare for a fairytale of magical godmothers, glass slippers and pumpkins, La Cenerentola spins the classic tale with an emphasis on Cinderella's indefatigable outlook and courage.
Director Theresa Borg cleverly links the theme of transformation and renewal to a contemporary commentary on recycling. Designer, Marc McIntyre echoes this in his wondrous sets and costumes assembled from reconditioned materials.
Playing the title role of the feisty Angelina (Cinderella), the delightful mezzo-soprano Kirsten Leich returns to the stage to capture the heart of the handsome prince Don Ramiro.
Popular tenor, Henry Choo plays the charming Don Ramiro alongside Michael Lampard and Adrian McEniery who make their company debuts with CitiOpera. In just a short time CitiOpera has cemented its role in Victorian operatic life as a dazzling young company that presents opera in its original language, yet with a modern twist. Sunday's matinee will be a special performance where grandparents and parents are encouraged to introduce their younger family members to the magical world of opera. Dialogue is in English and Surtitles will be at all performances.
Tickets $65, $50 (concession). Special price for IIC Members: $45

Waiting for the Accident to Happen
EXHIBITION
5 - 21 November 2015
Curated by Antonella Croci
Featuring Francis Alÿs, Meris Angioletti,
Ivan Argote, Dellsperger, Clorinde Durand, Chiara Fumai, Rä di Martino, Adrian Paci.
SCREEN SPACE
30 Guildford Lane, Melbourne
OPENING Thursday 5 November
6.00pm - 8.00pm
Waiting for the Accident to Happen forms part of an exchange between Careof (Milan) and Screen Space (Melbourne) and includes works by nine artists, sourced from the Careof Video Archive and beyond, which dwell on the fragmentary nature of the archive.
The Careof Video Archive, built over 25 years, primarily by Careof founders Mario Gorni and Zefferina Castoldi, is the result of unique and varied contributions reflecting personal and professional histories as much as the history of video art. It includes over 8000 video artworks as part of its collection.
Careof Video Archive is a testament to the often unpredictable nature of the archive, and its construction, rather than a reflection of reality. Encircling this idea, the works in Waiting for the Accident to Happen play with the shifting borders between documentation, reality and fiction.
The exhibitions includes video works from both established and emerging artists, based in Italy, France and Mexico.
