Rome through film, from the 1950s till now, with a selection that comprises the eclectic and the iconic, including Wyler's Roman Holiday, Fellini's La Dolce Vita, Pasolini's Mamma Roma, Antonioni's L'Eclisse and Sorrentino's La Grande Bellezza.   

 

The season features some of the great divas of Italian film: Anna Magnani, Monica Vitti, Claudia Cardinale, and showcases the decline and fall of the Roman male dandy as interpreted by Gregory Peck, Marcello Mastroianni, Alain Delon, Vittorio Gassman and, more recently, Toni Servillo's Jep in La Grande Bellezza.

  Sicily: Heart of the Mediterranean


 

A series of four lavishly illustrated lectures by Dr Dugald McLellan, (former Italian Art Historian, University of Sydney) focusing on the three major cities of Palermo, Catania and Siracusa.


 

 Venue: Elm Tree House - 233 Domain Road South Yarra 

Dates: 25 February, 4 March, 11 March and 18 March (Wednesday evenings)

Time: 6.30pm - aperitivo of Sicilian antipasto and wine; lecture 7pm-8pm.
