Dr Luigi Ficacci, art historian, works for the Office of Conservation of Italian Artistic Patrimony (Ministry of Cultural Heritage). Since 2008 Dr Ficacci has been the Superintendent of Fine Arts in Bologna, Ferrara and in the Provinces of the Romagna Region.

 

From 1984 until 2004 he was the chief Conservator at the Istituto Nazionale della Grafica (National Institute for the Graphic Design) in Rome where he developed a profound appreciation of the work of Giovanni Battista Piranesi and published the definitive catalogue of etched engravings: Giovan Battista Piranesi.
