Gaetana Pellegrini, lecturer at Deakin University and teacher at the Italian Cultural Institute Melbourne, will give a short presentation on the opera Rigoletto.
Rigoletto a Mantova, a film in Italian with English subtitles, was conceived and produced in 2010 by Andrea Andermann who, together with RAI, the Italian public broadcaster, conveyed the atmosphere and the evocative power of Giuseppe Verdi's opera from the exact places and hours of the libretto, respecting the rhythm of the story as well as the authentic work of the authors. A film with Placido Domingo, who for the first time plays the role of Rigoletto, featuring cinematography by Oscar Award winner Vittorio Storaro and RAI's National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Zubin Mehta.
