ITALIAN CULTURAL INSTITUTE, MELBOURNE

The Italian Cultural Institute Melbourne
and
RISM (Research in Italian Studies, Melbourne)

have great pleasure in inviting you to a talk in English on

Authority and Translation in Early Renaissance Italy

with

Dr Andrea Rizzi from the University of Melbourne
traduzione nel rinascimento
The Italian Renaissance translation practice compels us to rethink how we understand and practice translation today.

In his talk Dr Rizzi demonstrates that the Italian Renaissance translation was an aggressive rewriting of classical and medieval texts: literary translation did not exist beyond classroom and the translator often fashioned himself or herself as an author.
