Andrzej Strzalkowski, RPT
|
Still suffering from that old high school football injury? Not recovering as quickly as you should be from a more recent injury or surgery? Alternative Therapy will help your body heal.
Through osteopathic science, Andrzej stimulates the body to heal itself, shortening recovery time. Cranialsacral adjustments will energize and release hidden stresses. Gentle hands on manipulation will open blockages and release pain.
Typically, men ignore minor aches and pains, and even put off treatment for more serious injuries or illnesses until their body is screaming and completely incapacitated.

Three Healthy Steps Men Can Take
In the 1920's women lived on the average a year longer than men, today they live over 5 years longer! Traditionally men have more dangerous jobs, tend not to take care of themselves and
don't have medical insurance (don't get regular check up).
Men die younger and in greater numbers of cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and more. These are lifestyle diseases and more than half of the premature deaths in men are preventable.
Men tend to isolate when stressed and "go it alone". Your ill health and early death is an issue for your whole family. Over half of the elderly widows living in poverty were not poor before the death of their husband. The suffering from ill health and premature death affects all your loved ones.
Step 1 Pay Attention to Your Body
In Traditional Chinese Medicine we review the "10 Questions" with our patients regularly. This is a fundamental review of how your body's systems are performing. Do a self check regularly. Have your bowel movements changed? is urination hesitant or are you getting up at night to urinate? Do you have symptoms of acid reflux or gas and bloating? Erectile dysfunction can be an early warning sign of heart disease. Pay attention and when things aren't working right get a check up.
Step 2 Get Regular Exercise
Moderate aerobic exercise for 30 minutes 5 times per week or vigorous exercise for 20 minutes 3 times per week is all you need to reduce risk factors substantially. You can combine strength training with stress relief through yoga.
Step 3 Eat a More Varied Diet
Eat whole grains with as much variety as possible. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Its not the occasional indulgence that does the harm but the daily consumption of highly processed, high fat foods that does the damage. Michael Pollan's 7 Rules for Eating on eating are a great guideline. To summarize "Eat food, not too much, mostly plants"

Yoga for Men: It Ain't for Sissies!
Often, yoga is presented as a practice for women, particularly at gyms where it is a constant flow, reminiscent of Suzanne Sommers' Aerobics.
The true practice of Yoga is not a workout. It is a lifestyle. The practice of genuine Iyangar yoga will bring you body back to a flexible state...reversing osteoporosis, improving blood pressure and trimming away love handles and beer bellies.
It's A Win-Win! It has been a common experience for men in my yoga class to lose inches in their waistline, lower their blood pressure (reducing medication) and gain significant yardage in their golf game.
Along with the physical bonuses of a regular yoga practice comes the improved ability to center, release stress and experience an incredible feeling of peace!
A 15 year practitioner, Brook Longobardi, structures her classes to the n eeds of the students. Inflexibility, pain and weak muscles are reasons to practice Yoga, not avoid it! Try a class and see how your body and mind respond.
Enjoy better posture, health and
a renewed sense of calm!

Restore Your Balance Reclaim Your Life
From Surviving to Thriving After Trauma
More than ever before, miracles in modern medicine are enabling patients to survive traumatic illness or injury such as

cancer, or spinal cord injury. These unexpected and defining events greatly impact a person's mind, body and
spirit and challenge the very concept of clinical recovery - returning to a former state of health or functionality.
Survivors contend with both acute and chronic issues resulting from their illness or injury, as well as the treatment. Physical symptoms can include pain, fatigue, nausea, functional limitations, changes in bodily functions and appearance. Emotional issues can include changes to self-esteem and self-image, fear, anxiety, stress, anger and depression. Challenges to a person's spirituality may include questions about why this has happened to them, why they have survived, and revisiting their purpose and meaning in life. Continue Reading...
