About    Our Work      Chapters     Committees      Get Involved
September 10, 2014
We did it! Thank you so much to everyone who helped us reach our $1,200 goal. Thanks to our members, friends, and the SOCM Board members who offered matches, we raised $2,571 last month.

SOCM relies on your gifts to continue our social, economic, and environmental justice work.

Save the Date for SOCM's Annual Meeting

Join us at Montgomery Bell State Park for the weekend of October 18 - 19 to gather with friends, learn some new skills, collaborate on our chapter and committee work, and help set the direction for SOCM in 2015.

As soon as our Annual Meeting Committee hashes out the details, we'll send out a link to the registration form. See you in October!

Welcome Middle Tennessee Organizer Mike Cannon

We're so pleased to announce that former At-Large Board Member Mike Cannon has been hired as our Middle Tennessee Organizer. Mike will staff the chapters in Middle Tennessee and the Social Justice Committee. He brings about 10 years of organizing experience with him including work on electoral campaigns, housing rights, and with unions. Mike grew up in Smyrna, Tenn., and earned a B.A. in philosophy and sociology from Middle Tennessee State University where, as a student activist, he was active in efforts to fight against budget cuts to higher education.

Please join us in welcoming Mike to the SOCM staff. He can be reached at mike@socm.org.
Shop at Kroger? Raise Money for SOCM.

It just became even EASIER to donate to SOCM. For the last several years, the Cumberland County Chapter has been giving out Kroger gift cards as their fundraiser. When the giftcards were used, 4% of the purchase went to SOCM. Kroger has just changed this program to make it even easier.

If you shop at Kroger (grocery or gas), register your Kroger Plus Shopper's Card with the Kroger Community Rewards Program and 4% of your purchase will go to SOCM just by swiping your rewards card.

Follow these step-by-step instructions to register your Kroger card and start helping SOCM today.
  • Sign up at http://krogercommunityrewards.com.
  • Be sure to have your Kroger Plus card handy and register your card with SOCM after you sign up.
