This holiday season, we appreciate your gift more than ever. SOCM is going through serious financial challenges, forcing us to cut our staff to a bare minimum and make some real long-term changes. Despite these challenges, SOCM members have worked harder than ever in 2013 lobbying for legislation that supports cleaner energy, advocating for responsible reporting from local media outlets, fighting for the right to clean and affordable drinking water, putting pressure on the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) to hold public hearings on issues like factory farms and landfills, protesting the University of Tennessee's [failed] attempt to open
