Tell Governor Haslam To Stop the UT Fracking Study
Join us for a Rally in Nashville on Friday, March 15th

Thank you to all of the SOCM members who sent in public comments to the State Building Commission on the University of Tennessee Fracking Study last week. Now is the time to push two of our most important elected legislators to stop the UT Fracking Study.

The Executive Subcommittee of the State Building Commission is scheduled to vote to move forward on the study on March 15th. There are still many ways to have your voice be heard on this issue before March 15th.

  1. Tell Governor Bill Haslam (615-532-4562) and House Speaker Beth Harwell (615-741-0709) that you do NOT want fracking in Tennessee.
  2. Make a public statement at the Executive Subcommittee of the State Building Commission on Friday, March 15th at 2pm CT in Hearing Room 12 in Legislative Plaza.
  3. Join allies and friends at a rally and press conference on Legislative Plaza before the meeting on the 15th. At noon, SOCM members and concerned residents throughout the state will gather to take a stand against fracking.

Some concerns about the UT Fracking study are:

  • Lack of transparency on behalf of UT
  • Inadequate fracking regulations
  • Opening up public lands to be leased to oil and gas companies
