Greetings!
The first public meeting of the newly-formed Board of Water Quality, Oil and Gas will be held on Tuesday, October 16th in Nashville. Join SOCM E3 Organizer Parker Laubach at the meeting and tell the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) that citizen's voices matter!
Last week, Nashville's News Channel 5 discovered that TDEC's point person for public comments, Mike Burton, called public comments that oppose hydraulic fracturing (fracking) "stupid." Click here for the story by News Channel 5. Attend Tuesday's meeting to tell TDEC Burton's attitude and comments are unacceptable.
Recently, TDEC issued very loose regulations for fracking, despite suggestions from citizen groups, such as SOCM, and comments from the public. See the news story here. The new Board of Water Quality, Oil and Gas was formed, in part, to address fracking in our state.
