ISCOWP Update
Greetings!
chaya face
Hare Krishna!

Due to your contributions, the construction of the shelter for old cows has begun, but we need more funds to complete it. The construction site has been prepared and the support beams are up! Thank you so much!

This is a special issue just about the old cows that need your help to build them a shelter. This issue is all about them and why they need a shelter as soon as possible.  Meet Asha, Dwadasi and Kalki and see the construction site  and/or you can donate here.

May Lord Krsna bless you for your support of cow protection. Thank you for all your help.

Your servant,
Chayadevi

These Cows Need Your Helpa
Kalki for August 2013
"I'm just getting too tired to keep up with the herd," says Kalki

Kalki has cancer of the eye. She has had the condition for a year and half. We have had other cows  with this condition and have tried operations, alternative medicine and allopathic medicine, reiki, homeopathy and more and the results are always the same. It is terminal. Kalki is amazing in that only up until now has she shown signs in slowing down. Even now we will see her sometimes with the herd. Since she still wants to eat grass and graze we would like to put her in a situation where she can do that but we can also administer her grain with pain killers without the whole herd pushing around her to get some.

Asha for august 2013
Asha says,"It is so nice there is a pasture for me that is not hilly and I do not have to walk too far for water, But I don't have any shelter there from the winds and rain. I'd appreciate it very much if you could help build me a shelter."

Asha has a hip deformity. Her previous owner, a breeder of Black Angus cows for breeding stock, could not sell her since she was unfit for breeding. He was advised to sell her for meat, but he could not.  He found us on the internet and called us to see if we would take her. We are so glad we did as she is so courageous in dealing with her physical disability and therefore an inspiration. As she is growing older, her deformity is more difficult for her to overcome. She has an especially hard time moving up and down the hills as her hind quarters try to get ahead of her and she comes close to falling down.

Dwadasi for August 2013
"There was a big storm the other day and we had to walk a distance to get shelter. My feet hurt a lot afterwards," says Dwadasi.

Dwadasi comes from a local devotee who felt they could no longer take care of her. She has laminitis which is usually caused by too rich food. But Dwadasi eats exactly what all the other cows eat and none of them have laminitis. She has had it for years, but she has been able to keep up with the herd up until now. Again, as she grows older, her condition has become more challenging.
