Weigh In on the Draft Foreign Missions Element

The Comprehensive Plan's draft Foreign Missions and International Organizations Element provides policy goals for the federal government to plan a secure and welcoming environment for diplomatic and international activities. NCPC will host a public meeting to present the proposed policy updates. Draft updates respond to current planning initiatives related to a new chancery development area for a foreign missions center, and guidance for locating and siting for chanceries. Public comments accepted until July 5, 2013.

SW Ecodistrict Recommendations Advance

On May 21, NCPC released a set of preliminary design concepts for both 10th Street, SW and a connection at Banneker Overlook. One set of concepts looks to reimagine 10th Street as an active, tree-lined corridor that balances the civic qualities of the National Mall with the vitality of the city. The other focuses on an interim physical connection between Banneker Park and Maine Avenue. To meet the SW Ecodistrict’s aggressive sustainability targets both concepts focus on approaches to increase stormwater capture and water recycling. The online comment portal will remain open through June 21. #SWEcodistrict
