AMERICUS, Ga. - The Americus Motorsports Complex (AMC) team, led by Star Racing owners George and Jackie Bryce, has recently shifted its focus from the previous tentative plan of using a single investor and a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Business and Industry (B&I) loan to fund this future multi-million dollar world class racing facility.

The AMC team is now offering the option for local investors or other interested parties to contribute a portion of the needed capital in addition to the loan in order to accelerate the process. This new investor group will be structured through a Private Placement Memorandum with specific contribution minimums in place.

The development team for the Americus Motorsports Complex has been meeting weekly with their consultants, engineers and other resources to restructure and finalize the details of this new strategy.

The Bryces, who have owned Star Racing in Americus, Georgia, for more than 30 years, have been developing and planning the future 450-acre multi-use Americus Motorsports Complex for several years now with the help of other specialists within the industry.

The AMC, which will include a road race course, dragstrip, business technology park and training center, will draw in visitors and new companies from all over the world to Americus and Sumter County.

Although the team has somewhat shifted their business plan to include more opportunities for corporate research and development as well as training and education, the road course and dragstrip will continue to be the main draw bringing people and businesses to the motorsports complex.

The Bryces have already received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the Runway Protection Zone (RPZ) located on the land. They have also completed the wetlands determination process through the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (USACE). Currently, the team is in the process of adjusting their business strategy for the recent shift in plans before submitting it to the USDA for loan approval.

As soon as the new investor group is assembled and the USDA loan approved, construction can begin on the road course and the overall infrastructure for the facility. The motorsports business technology park can also begin developing at that time as interested companies commit to relocating to the area.

The first phase of the project, which includes the road course, technology park and overall infrastructure, will take about 18 months to complete. The AMC team also expects to begin the phase two construction of the dragstrip and training facilities before the road course is finished in order to get the facility up and running at its full potential more quickly.

Americus Motorsports Complex representatives have also been participating in recent discussions regarding the important Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) improvements that are planned for South Georgia Tech Parkway, which the future motorsports complex will be located on. Widening this parkway is a necessary project to not only help detour heavy commercial traffic around Americus, but also to assist in traffic flow to and from the future motorsports complex located across from South Georgia Technical College.

These planned improvements, as well as the other upcoming TSPLOST (Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) projects, will ensure safe and easy travel to and from the new facility. These enhancements will also be a major positive factor when recruiting new businesses and nationally sanctioned racing circuits to the Americus Motorsports Complex.

Since the February 9, 2011, announcement of the Americus Motorsports Complex, the Star Racing team has been working tirelessly on the lengthy planning and approval process required for such a large facility. After more than 30 years in the motorcycle drag racing industry, the Bryces are utilizing their own experiences and the knowledge of others in the industry to ensure that this motorsports complex is a world class facility with as few hurdles as possible during the planning and construction phases.

The Bryces have also been promoting the AMC nationally for two years through their NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) Pro Stock Motorcycle Sovereign-Star Racing team.

This facility, which will be located on 450 acres across from South Georgia Technical College, will focus on both automobile and motorcycle racing and will include a dragstrip, road race course, training centers, motorsports business technology park, amphitheater and autominiums.
