Sangoma USA October Tour
Dear Friend,

Ancient prophecies predict that African and American teachings will help save the planet. The reason is that they still remember the old ways and how to reconnect us to Mother Nature. I have been encouraged by my Xhosa teachers and medicine colleagues to bring our ancient teachings to the Western World. These teachings are simple and profound, focusing on helping people to reconnect to their Ancestors and Dreams.

(Above) I stand  with my medicine colleagues, Elliot Rivera from Puerto Rico, brought up in New York; and Dancing Thunder, medicine chief of the Susquehannock nation.

I will be hosted in Portland by Jan Engels-Smith and her Lightsong School of Shamanic studies. In New York I will be hosted again by the New York Shamanic Circle, as well as the Edgar Cayce Center (ARE).

I look forward to meeting you again in the US.
Warmest wishes,

I can only help people who are willing to work. I am a simple guide, teacher and healer. My job is to facilitate peoples' healing process, not to do it for them.

Please be aware! Sometimes drumming can bring up intense emotions and feelings especially during Sangoma ceremonies. Sangoma drumming has the ability to wake us up on a cellular level. People are responsible for their own emotional well being.

The spiritual journey is often called the 'Hero's quest' because it involves courage, fortitude, and discipline. Saying all this it can also be a great deal of fun.

                                      John Lockley.

"My journey is about reconciliation and part of my job is to help heal the past. When people are more connected with their own spirits, there is less of a desire to destroy or put down another. I don't intend to bring Xhosa or South African shamanic culture to the West as such, but rather to use its essence - the techniques of prayer, dream work and connection to nature - to help people connect with their own ancestors and spiritual traditions."  - John Lockley
