Sangoma Exhibition
Dear Friend,

I would like to let you know about an exciting project which I am now working on. It is a kickstarter campaign entitled

'UBUNTU DREAMS, BLOOD OF THE ANCESTORS'. Please click on the link to view the video.

It will be a photo documentary looking at my traditional Sangoma community in the Eastern Cape and our work together. My friend, Tom Donley will be coming out from New York to take the pictures. Tom is a photographer for the New York Times with experience photographing indigenous communities in South America.

Tom and I are working towards a Sangoma photo exhibition in New York City in the fall. This will present the public with an opportunity to witness the extraordinary dignity and beauty of the Sangoma medicine people of South Africa.

'Ubuntu' means humanity, and we are all inextricably linked through the wonder of our red blood. This project can only come about through generous donations from the public. So I encourage you to please give, not for yourself but for future generations, and if you are so moved, please forward this link on.

Thank you so much.

Warmest wishes,
John.

"My journey is about reconciliation and part of my job is to help heal the past. When people are more connected with their own spirits, there is less of a desire to destroy or put down another. I don't intend to bring Xhosa or South African shamanic culture to the West as such, but rather to use its essence - the techniques of prayer, dream work and connection to nature - to help people connect with their own ancestors and spiritual traditions."  - John Lockley
