Who Should Upgrade
Users who have upgraded to Office 2013 and who utilize Microsoft Access for database projects should strongly consider upgrading to GAGEtrak 7.0.4. In this version, we have implemented the Access 2013 Runtime for data management in our application. We have done so in an effort to keep pace with Microsoft's upgrade standards and better serve our user base moving forward.

We do not recommend the 7.0.4 update for GAGEtrak users who have the Office 2010 Suite installed, and who utilize MS Access for day-to-day projects; the Access 2010 Runtime will conflict with our 2013 version. Therefore, it is recommended these customers stay on our GAGEtrak 7.0.3 version unless 7.0.4 has corrected an issue that directly affects you.

For a list of resolved issues and enhancements in GAGEtrak 7.0.4, please contact us

FDA Edition
The FDA Edition of GAGEtrak is now available! The FDA Edition works just like the Standard Edition, but permanently enables security, the audit trail and electronic signatures.

Ensure documentation accuracy and be prepared for future audits with the GAGEtrak Validation Kit and our onsite validation services. The GAGEtrak Validation Kit includes a validation guide which serves as the basis by which the software is validated and a validation database for testing the software's functionality, preparing your SOPs for GAGEtrak, training the users of the software and documenting the formal validation report. Enhanced Gage Status Monitoring in GAGEtrak 7
Gage Status has expanded from a basic indicator of Active vs Inactive to a method of categorizing gages. Previously, only Status 1 was Active, but now, any status can be designated as such, which adds dynamic opportunity to sorting, locating groups of gages and filtering reports.

As an example, many companies designate between company-owned and employee-owned gages. Frequently, the ownership designation is made in the Owner field on the Gages -> Information tab, but this field is typically not in reports or the Quick Filter. Further, if the company's policy is to enter the employee's name in the Owner field, searching for all employee-owned gages can become challenging. The GAGEtrak sample database installs with Status 6 - Employee Owned. This status is set to active by default, so these gages appear on due lists on the Dashboard and on all Due Listing reports.

Navigate to Setup -> Status IDs to add a new status category or to change the settings of an existing category:

Status ID window

Entering a new status in the empty row of fields on the Status IDs window. Check the checkbox on the right to include gages with that status on Due Listing reports and the Dashboard (i.e., to designate those gages as Active). After saving the record, a new, blank row of fields will appear at the bottom, allowing you to enter another status.

Since the Status field is included in the Quick Filter, it's easy to find all gages of a particular status designation:

What is the Best Way to Keep Up with Changes in FDA Standards?

by Anelis Aurand-Araos, WellSpring Pharma Services

This is an interesting concept, one that actually goes by the name of "Regulatory Intelligence." Regulatory Intelligence (RI) is something that's really important because the standards are always evolving. In the United States, for example, they start at the top with the Federal Food Drug & Cosmetic Act, and recently, the Drug Quality and Security Act of 2013. FDA takes these laws and promulgates regulations and guidance documents to interpret those regulations.

Changes to regulations and other notices are published daily in the Federal Register, which can be accessed publicly on regulations.gov. Hundreds of notices could be published daily. Now, you're not going to have a person on your team looking at regulations.gov every day evaluating what's been updated on the Federal Register. That's just not good use of your time and things are constantly changing. Let's explore some effective ways in keeping your company up-to-date.

TRIGGER CODEtriggercode
What it is, why you need one and how to get one

A trigger code is a unique code number required to register your GAGEtrak license. If you don't obtain a trigger code within 30 days of installing GAGEtrak, you will receive a message from GAGEtrak saying that your trial period has expired. Obtaining a trigger code will remove this expiration date.

You may also require a new trigger code after reinstalling GAGEtrak because of a workstation upgrade or if GAGEtrak is moved to a new workstation.

If you are using GAGEtrak 6.8, please click here for trigger code instructions.

If you are using GAGEtrak 7, please click here for trigger code instructions.
