The Basics of Gage R&R

Every manufacturing company that gets audited, anywhere in the world, is required to do gauge R&R studies. In some cases, this one study is the only chance to find unknown problems with measurement quality (when problems do occur, it is often downstream from calibration). For this reason, it is important to clearly understand gauge R&R studies and make the most of the results.

TechTipTECH TIP
Test Point Groups in GAGEtrak 7 - Part 3
As a continuation of our last tech tip, this tip will go a bit more in depth using a 6 inch caliper. The Test Points for this basic gage might appear to be as simple as those of the micrometer; however, a complete testing of the gage is involved. The testing requirements for a caliper include but are not limited to: overall condition, parallelism (inside and outside jaws) and measurements of the inside jaws, outside jaws and depth gage. The overall tolerances for this company's calipers are +/- .001, with looser tolerance on the depth gage of +/- .01, resolution .0005. There must be three measurements across the range of the gage for each jaw and depth, not including 0 or 6 inches.

TRIGGER CODEtriggercode
What it is, why you need one and how to get one

A trigger code is a unique code number required to register your GAGEtrak license. If you don't obtain a trigger code within 30 days of installing GAGEtrak, you will receive a message from GAGEtrak saying that your trial period has expired. Obtaining a trigger code will remove this expiration date.

You may also require a new trigger code after reinstalling GAGEtrak because of a workstation upgrade or if GAGEtrak is moved to a new workstation.

If you are using GAGEtrak 6.8, please click here for trigger code instructions.
