ONLINE CLASSES WITH NANCY! | |
If you do not live where you can take a class from Nancy in person, then perhaps an online class at Academy of Quilting will work for you.
Academy of Quilting brings you the joy of learning quilting, applique & patchwork in the comfort of your home with online classes.
Here are the start dates for Nancy's classes the first half of 2015:
- Jan 30: Celtic Tablerunner
- Feb 12:
2 Fabric Applique Quilts - Feb 27: Hawaiian Quilting 101
- Mar 27: Beginning Hand Quilting
- April 17: Baltimore Basics
- April 24: Make Your Own Hawaiian Quilt
Nancy receives comments like this one from her online students all the time: "I enjoyed the class very much. Learned needleturn applique enough that I will be making a Hawaiian Quilt for my son. Best teacher I have seen for this, presented the material in a very understandable way. All questions were answered fast. I plan to take more classes from Nancy."

The stockings are hung by the chimney with care... They may be empty now, but they are filled with expectations and anticipation, aren't they?
We send you our greeting for a wonderful Christmas just in the nick of time. And since this is our last newsletter before the new year begins, we also want to wish you a gloriously Happy New Year, too! We think this is a great time of year to reflect on the less tangible gifts we enjoy every day: laughter, friends, joy, love, family, beauty. And some things we mostly take for granted: sunshine, rain, warmth, light, nature. The things we can't wrap in a package, that don't cost us anything, and that are all around us. Even when we give a gift-wrapped package, isn't it pleasure we really want to give? So simple, so powerful. As 2014 draws to a close, and as we welcome 2015 may you bask in the simple, miraculous gift of life.

OUR GIFT TO YOU

Mini Holiday Tree
Our gift to you this holiday is a small quilt pattern to make your own Mini Holiday Tree. Only 11" x 17", fuse it tonight, or stitch it by hand. If you don't finish it to hang this holiday season, you will be ready for next year!
We know all of you creative-types will find additional ways to decorate this tree, and even use it in more ways than just as a small wall-hanging. Here, we added red shiny fabric circles as ornaments to dress up this little gem. Perhaps you will decorate your little tree with different colored fabric ornaments, a star at the top, buttons, real ornaments, packages around the base. We know, for you, the real pleasure is in the making. Make it yours.
Click on either photo to get to the How to and Ideas page on our website. There you will find a link to download this pdf pattern. It prints on two sheets of paper. While you are at that page, look around to see what else is there to inspire you in the new year!
If you are like us, we become more inspired to work on holiday projects as Christmas draws near. And we find that the week between Christmas and New Year's Day is a wonderful time to start or finish the new decorations we want for next year. To order any of our Christmas patterns, or fabrics, visit the Christmas Patterns & Fabric page on our website. We send orders the same or next business day and the US Postal Service does an amazing job of delivering them in the blink of an eye, or so it seems. Kudos to our US Postal Service for the amazing job they do this time of year, and all year, for that matter.

Looking ahead to spring
We have turned the corner; the days are getting longer (at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere). Can spring be far away? If you are over with the holidays, then perhaps a project that reminds you of warmer days or the next holiday celebration of Valentines Day is what you are looking for. Is your favorite football team going to the Rose Bowl? Or are you a horse racing fan and watch the Run for the Roses each year? Did you know rose is the state flower of New York and Oklahoma; and the island flower of Maui? See, lots of excuses to make this lovely quilt!
ROSE ARBOR (24" X 36") is our current Internet Special. Regular price is $12.00, for a limited time, get this beauty for only $10.00!

"Thank you Nancy for the great classes! Can't thank you enough for all that I learned. Never have I taken a class where the teacher managed to spend the amount of time that you did with each student! My points have never looked so good! And the extra attention you paid to the beginners was fabulous!" --from a happy student.
Nancy is booking classes, shows and events for 2015, 2016 and beyond. If you would like her to come to your area to teach, let your quilt shop, quilt guild, or show organizer know. Print Nancy's Brochure and pass it along.
PIGGY-BACK: Nancy is in southern California Feb 15 and 16, 2015, with nothing to do. Oh my! Perhaps your guild, shop, or group would like her to teach for you. If so, please send her an email.
PIGGY-BACK: Nancy will be on the east coast (US) from April 9-11, 2015. Contact her if you would like her to teach or speak at your guild or shop either right before April 9 or after April 11.
Piggy-backing is good!
Nancy is always eager to teach or speak at more than one location when she travels. If she is able to book multiple events, then each group shares in her travel expenses. This is an economical and efficient way to book. If you see that Nancy will be anywhere near* you, then contact her to see if additional engagements can be arranged during the same trip. That way EVERYONE WINS!
*Remember, Nancy is traveling from Oregon. So near means that if she will be in Virginia even Florida or Rhode Island is near. Think regionally.
