FABRIC PACKS

No excuses

Halloween Fabric Pack
We try to make this as easy on you as we can. Pick a pattern, then pick a Fabric Pack. Each 2FAQ Fabric Pack includes enough fabric to make the quilt top and bind the quilt in either of the 2 fabrics, PLUS, a spool of Aurifil thread for the applique. We don't want you to have any excuses not to get started on your quilt right away. The sooner you start, the sooner it is finished! (Likewise, if you never start, it will never be finished.)

We sell the Fabric Packs and patterns individually, so you can choose exactly the Fabric Pack you want for your quilt. While the Fabric Packs are displayed with one pattern, look at them all and pick the one you like the best.

Don't see what you like? Call or email Janice and she will be happy to put together a pack that makes your heart sing.

FIVE YEARS!

Time Flies
5 years!

If we had sent a newsletter in June, we would have told you that it was the fifth anniversary of our e-Newsletters to you! 1700 people received our first edition, and now we send to nearly 5,000. All of you have opted-in, or chosen, to receive these and for that we are very proud and grateful.

Nancy was sure when we started this in 2009 that we would run out of things to say in about a year. But here we are five years later, and still have more to tell you to keep you informed and inspired!

Of course, we owe you a big THANKS for your encouragement, and the stories, photos and questions you send to us. We love that you share with us and let us share with others. Keep those photos, stories and questions coming! Mahalo.

HALLOWEEN SOCKS

Think Options
Halloween Socks
Be-witching
Boo-oots!
If you are like us, you love to buy things that are more than single-use items. Just because we named our pattern Christmas Socks doesn't mean you couldn't use the pattern, or parts of it, for other times of the year. Take this Halloween witch as an example. We simply used the turned-up toes sock with Halloween fabrics. The legs are just two skinny strips, with a flare of a skirt at the top. A cute wall hanging for your door, or work space. Our measures approximately 27" x 18".

TIP: For the skirt fold a piece of fabric in half (the folded edge is the bottom edge of the skirt), gather it just a little at the top of the quilt, then catch the raw edges on three sides in the border, or binding. What could be easier?

We know you can think of dozens of other ways to use this pattern. How about as a clothes-line with the family's socks out to dry? Send us pics!

Did you miss us?  We've missed you!

So as not to bore you with details, let us just say our summer plans were derailed a few times, sending us in unexpected directions. But, we are back on track and happy to get this newsletter into your in-box.

Chong Family and quiltsOne fun event this summer was Nancy's visit to Hawaii with her husband to spend time with family. Photographed here with the personal quilts Nancy has made for their son's family. Read below about this Hawaiian tradition and how you can make it yours.

E komo mai,

Welcome,

Nancy & Janice

DESIGN YOUR PERSONAL HAWAIIAN QUILT

Continue the tradition

Hawaiian quilters have long been known to make special quilts for each of their children and grandchildren, choosing a design motif and colors that had personal meaning to the person who would receive the quilt. Until commercial patterns became available in the 1970's and 1980's quilters either designed their own quilts, or were given a pattern from a close friend or relative. No two quilts were identical, to honor the spirit of the quilter and the person receiving the quilt.

We suspect, since you are reading this that you have dreamed, at least once, of making a very personal Hawaiian quilt. One that is uniquely yours made just for you or someone you love very much. But then you thought, "How can I do that? I don't have a clue where to Design Your Personal Hawaiian Quiltbegin!" And, that is where we can help.  We published our book and DVD set Design Your Personal Hawaiian Quilt just so anyone with the desire could design their very own Hawaiian quilt. Believe us when we say, "If you can cut with scissors, you can do this. No special drawing or design skills required. It is that easy!"

Is your daughter's name Rose? Design her a rose (lokelani) quilt. Was your son born on Maui, or is it his favorite island? Design him a silverword quilt. Is your husband an avid fisherman? Design him a fishing quilt!  Yes, you can do it.

You will never win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket. You will never design your personal Hawaiian quilt if you don't take the first step. Take that first step, and purchase your copy of Design Your Personal Hawaiian Quilt today.

The book: 66 pages of step-by-step instructions, full-color photos, illustrations and instruction. A handy guide, at your side, while you explore and create. Full-wrap, wire-O binding lays flat on your worktable, and displays the book title on the spine when the book is closed and on your bookshelf. PLUS,

The DVD: 2 hours of instruction and inspiration. Watch as we show you our designing process; be inspired by the surroundings and experiences of our students in Hawai'i as they design their quilts; visit the Bailey House Museum on Maui, and the Grove Farm Homestead on Kaua'i, to view a portion of their priceless Hawaiian quilt pattern collections.

The book and DVD are not duplicates of each other. They are meant to work together to amplify your learning experience. The set sells for just $45.00. Buy yours now.

Continue the tradition in your family.

Nanny's Pua Nana La

Nanny's Pua Nana La:

Grandma's Sunflower Garden

For son, Richard. 100" x 122"

Nancy got a head start on you. She designed her first Hawaiian quilt in 1978. She had never even made a Hawaiian quilt before that.

Since then she has designed and made bed-size quilts for herself, each of her three children, and her mother; smaller quilts for each of her grandchildren; dozens of other quilts for herself or loved ones; and is currently working on a king-size quilt for her husband. (Note: the quilts Nancy has design for her family are not, and will not be made available as patterns.)

Remember, if you can cut with scissors, you can do this. No special drawing or design skills required. It is that easy! Buy your copy now.

Visit the Design Gallery on our website to see what other quilters, just like you, have designed. You will be impressed and encouraged.
HALLOWEEN - 2 Fabric Applique Quilt

Quick! Fuse!

HalloweenTime is running out if you want to hang your Halloween quilt for the month of October... especially if you have not started it yet! What to do? FUSE!

We love hand applique, as do many of you. But let's be realistic. This is a pattern with lots of inches to be appliqued, a skinny spider web, and pointy dead tree branches - it is not a fast hand applique. And, it is a quilt that will only be hanging for about a month. Do you really want to spend your precious time making a quilt like this by hand? (OK, we can hear you die-hards saying "Yes.") But, to those who say "No!" what's the solution? Fusible web!

Instructions are included in every one of our 2 Fabric Applique Quilt patterns for needleturn applique by hand*, machine applique with fusible, and raw-edge applique by machine (an even faster because you applique AND quilt at he same time!).

To sweeten the pot, this pattern is our current Internet Special. The normal price of $12.00 is reduced for a limited time to only $10.00. Don't pass up this deal to have a fun new quilt for Halloween! Buy yours now.

2 Fabric Applique Quilts DVD cover * The instructions do not attempt to teach how to needleturn applique, machine applique, or raw-edge applique. Our DVD "2 Fabric Applique Quilts with Nancy Lee Chong" is the best way to learn needleturn applique while making this, or any of our 2FAQ quilt patterns.

Visit the 2FAQ Gallery on our website to see what other creative quilters have done with this pattern. Then, don't forget to send us a picture of yours!

CHRISTMAS SOCKS

Christmas Socks - 400
Christmas Socks

You have a little more time to get this quilt ready for the winter holiday season. This is a great pattern to use many of the holiday, or tropical, or Asian fabrics you have been collecting. Make every sock different, embroider names on the cuff, embellish with glitzy trims, buttons, bells...where will you stop?

3 Mini Socks scale

Earlina Scott sent us photos of the clever things she did with the socks from our pattern. She reduced the socks, and cut a back, then stitched them up as little ornament pockets. "I use them to stash cash for grandkids at Christmas or a tiny goody for friends." See the peppermint stick in the green sock below?

3 Mini Socks hanging

She has made the socks from what looks like wool flannel, used a blanket stitch around the edges and embellished them with embroidery, buttons (the reindeer and stars on the socks above), beads, and flannel shapes. So cute!

But Earlina did not stop there. She also used the reduced-size socks to make a small table topper. We love her use of checks, plaids and stripes for the toes and cuffs. Beautiful job, Earlina, thank you for sharing your ideas with all of us.Mini Socks wreath

We have often thought of making the socks on the runner as little pockets to hold small toys or gifts, so were thrilled to see what Earlina did. Quilters are so clever!

This pattern also has options for placemats, and different length runners (which can be used as borders on a quilt). Bonus: pattern also includes mantel runner instructions to hang it from your fireplace. So many options!

Order your pattern today, $12.00.

Click here to see the placemat options, then go to the Runners Gallery to see what other people have done with this pattern.

That way EVERYONE WINS!

*Remember, Nancy is traveling from Oregon. So near means that if she will be in Virginia even Florida is near. Think regionally.

Thank you for spending a little of your precious time with us, we really appreciate it. Remember to send us your stories, pictures, questions, or suggestions. We love to hear from you.

A hui hou,
