AISD Show of Peace

The International Day of Peace was celebrated recently, which meant it wasn't unusual to pass by an elementary school and see a vast array of paper pinwheels sprinkled across the front lawn. Pinwheels for Peace is part of the worldwide International Day of Peace, and it's an annual undertaking for many AISD campuses. This year, about a dozen participated in the event, which involves having students create paper pinwheels that have drawings, paintings or hand-written thoughts on them. | Students at Dunn Elementary place their pinwheels perfectly in front of the school for International Day of Peace.

Preschool Ready

Sayra H. walked into her classroom at Kooken Education Center on the first day of school as though she'd been there before. That's because she had. Sort of. Honoring a Pope Dad

Staff Sergeant Frank Martinez wasn't out looking for recognition when he spoke casually of his participation in the Pope Elementary Dads Club to a fellow Army reservist. Yet he was honored anyway. Twice. The first one was a monthly award for volunteerism.
