Three Out of Four Women Supportive of Bearing and Rearing Children in Cohabiting Unions

Roughly three-quarters of Generation X and Millennials agree it is okay to have and raise children in cohabiting unions according to a recently released profile, Generation X and Millennials Attitudes about Having and Raising Children in Cohabiting Unions. Those who married directly without cohabiting premaritally are less often supportive (55%) than those who have cohabitation experience (support ranges from 71%-87%).
Congratulations Dr. Bart Stykes, author of this profile and contributor
to a variety of data resources during his four years as a Graduate Research Assistant with the NCFMR. Stykes recently earned his PhD in Sociology from BGSU and will join the faculty of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, as a tenure-track assistant professor this fall.
