Thank you for your outpouring of support in favor of keeping the U.S. Census Bureau's questions about marriage, widowhood, and divorce in its Annual Community Survey (ACS). Your responses helped in the effort to retain several of the questions the Census Bureau had proposed to remove.
After a full review of the nearly 1,700 comments you submitted, the Census Bureau is planning to retain the Undergraduate Field of Degree and the three Marital History questions and remove the Business/Medical Office on Property question. However, the Bureau is proposing to collect information on marriage intermittently or to a subset of respondents.
