Share of Grandparents Residing With a Grandchild

In 2009, 64 million adults were grandparents, and a mere 1 in 10 grandparents lived with a grandchild. The vast majority (90%) of grandparents do not live with their grandchildren. In honor of National Grandparents Day, the NCFMR is releasing a series of Family Profiles about grandparents.

Family Profiles
  • Grandparenthood in the U.S.: Residence Status of Grandparents
  • Grandparenthood in the U.S.: Grandparents' Characteristics by Life Stage
  • Grandparenthood in the U.S.: Prevalence of Grandparenthood Among Adults Aged 50+
