Welcome

The National Center for Family & Marriage Research (NCFMR), established in 2007 at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), welcomes you to our monthly electronic newsletter News and Notes.

News and Notes aims to inform you about the activities of the NCFMR. We will update you on current research findings and trends, announce training opportunities, and provide registration details for upcoming conferences and workshops.

Variation in Children's Family Structure

NCFMR research finds a wide variation in the share of children living with two married biological parents. Approximately 59% of these children reside in half of the U.S.' states. Children living with two married biological parents comprise the largest share in the Western region (top 25%), while children residing in the Southern region comprise the smallest share (bottom 25%).
