Help
WANTED
If your new years' resolutions include more outreach in the community, please consider coming to the Guild for a couple of hours to help out by receiving art (a great way to meet artists and get sneak peaks at what's going up on the walls before anyone else does), setting up/cleaning up, and working at our exciting art openings, and other tasks that come up during the year. Once we know you're interested, we'll email you with times, dates, and work opportunities that you're free to say yes or no to. We also need co-chairs for exhibitions and would like to fill some new board positions, so don't be shy. For more information contact Mary Louise at mloconnell@sbcglobal.net. Learn about ways you can make the Guild even better. DONATIONS Our Annual Appeal for donations continues all year long. Please consider giving a gift to the Guild and help keep art alive and well in Ridgefield and the surrounding community. Contact Joan Isaac (rgoa@sbcglobal.net) at the guild to make a donation.
Spring & Summer
INTERNS Again this year, we look forward to hosting a high school senior as an intern at the Guild. Working at RGA is a rewarding, real-world experience for any young person, and we look forward to this sojourn with another senior. Also, we would like to invite college students to apply for positions as interns for the summer as we start to build our camp staff. This is a fun and richly rewarding internship! Contact Joan at the Guild for more information about these positions. Her email is rgoa@sbcglobal.net.

President's Letter
Dear Friends, Happy New Year to all! We closed our doors on the 8th Annual Festive Home on December 23, with last-minute shoppers up until the very last hour. I thank everyone who supported the Guild with sweat, enthusiasm and fulfilled shopping lists this year. It was a great ride and I know we will benefit throughout the coming year from the funds we raised. As a bonus, we were able to increase our visibility in the community by offering our beautifully decorated spaces to several groups, including elementary school PTAs, the Newcomer's Club and the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce for meetings and parties. We also hosted our very first Artist Salon in December, and it was a great success--we look forward to another one in February with even more artists joining this free-wheeling evening.
This month we kick off with Resolution, a new themed, non-juried exhibition for members only. Resolution isn't just a word we use at the beginning of every year when we promise ourselves that we'll lose weight or recycle more. Resolution can also refer to a conflict, for example, within the artistic process, which has been brought to
conclusion-or not! Our art-making presents us with many challenges, and this show seeks art that reflects the ways the concept of resolution applies. Members are asked to submit up to 3 works and a written statement about the resolution in their work. Check our web site for complete details about submissions. The exhibition opens on January 19 (snow date: January 20).
Also, this month the year's first ARTalk, "Inspired by Georgia O'Keefe: Working in Pastel" with pastel artist Gregory Maichack on Sunday, January 13 at 2 pm. Join us at the Ridgefield Library's new location (21 Governor Street) for this exciting event.
Upcoming in February:
You are invited to the Guild's next Artist Salon on Friday, February 1 from 8 to 10 pm. There will be some munchies, and feel free to bring your own refreshments. See you in the upstairs gallery!
"Resolution" Artist Walk & Talk, on Sunday, February 3, at 3 pm. Five exhibiting artists will talk about their artistic process and bring other examples of their work to share. This free event comes complete with cookies, beverages, and inspiration. Bring a friend!
On Sunday, February 10 at 2 pm, join us for another ARTALK -- "Vision & Brilliance: Time to Think About Technology, Science, Design & the Future" presented by Laura Donna and Jackie Johnson of The Connecticut Forum. ARTalk will take place at the Ridgefield Library's new location (21 Governor Street).
The bi-annual CameraWorks receiving begins on February 20, and plans for the prospectus and juror are underway.
It's going to be a great year at the Guild - with your help and participation!
Cheers, ______________________________________________________

Resolution 2013
Resolution isn't just a word for the effort we might make at the beginning of the year to lose weight or re-cycle more. Resolution can also refer to a conflict, for example, within the artistic process, which has been brought to conclusion -- or not! Our art-making presents us with many challenges, and this members-only show seeks art that reflects the ways the concept of resolution applies. Antonio Muņoz, a local graphic artist and surface designer, moved to Ridgefield over 5 years ago. Originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador, he relocated to the United States in December of 1990 to pursue a career in graphic design. Antonio graduated from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT in 1994 with a degree in Graphic Design. That same year, he became the recipient of the Award of Excellence from the Connecticut Art Directors Club 19th Annual Award Show. Antonio has also taken design classes at Parsons School of Design in NYC. Throughout his career as a graphic designer, Antonio has created successful solutions for global corporations as well as local start-ups. Mr Muņoz's areas of expertise include: package design, brand identity, sales promotion and surface art design for textile, gift and paper.
Antonio discovered the Ridgefield Guild of Artists in May of 2010, joining the board of directors a couple of months later. Some of his volunteer activities include; creating compelling visuals, logos, and announcements to help promote all of the Guild's events. Since joining the Guild of Artists his artwork has been accepted in various juried shows.
Antonio feels very enthusiastic about volunteering at the Guild, and he enjoys meeting other artists and designers. He is currently collaborating with various interior designers in the area, designing custom prints that incorporate silhouettes with his one-of-a-kind surface designs, giving a bold and graphic feel to the Victorian art of silhouette portraiture.
