  Brexit panelists 
The impact of Brexit on startups in Europe and globally was the subject of heated debate among in-the-know panelists at Silicon Beach. It could lead to more startups and investors to turn to Asia and avoid Europe until the uncertainty settles. Panelists Mike Prasad of VentureLab, Rebecca Fannin of Silicon Dragon, Michelle Loughran of IDA Ireland, James Cummings of London & Partners and moderator Jeff Musson (above) kept the talk lively.   


Baidu car news The 'Google of China' is making big moves in the driver-less car arms race. One of China biggest tech titans, Baidu, is taking on Tesla in the self-driving car market. Baidu has just been issued a license to test its vehicles in California. 

Hollywood in China 
Hollywood director Renny Harlin gambled everything by moving to China. It paid off in blockbusters, as he pulled off a comeback with with a Jackie Chan action comedy. 

CHINA DEALS

Gobi Partners and Kaitai Capital have jointly invested $14.3 million, Series A financing in Shanghai-based property financing platform Momfo.  

Source Code Capital has co-invested $22.5 million with Yihao Capital in a third financing of automotive after-sales service eBaoyang. 

INDIA DEALS
 
 Sequoia Capital India has led a $24.7 million, Series B round in Mitra Biotech, a Bangalore-based startup focused on personalized cancer care.   
 
Bessemer Venture Partners has led a near $15 million financing of Indian online home design portal LivSpace, in a third round of funding.

Taiwan techies 
After years of stagnation, a newly energized Taiwan tech and startup economy is continuing on an upward path, with numerous new financings, funds and M&A deals for emerging companies far afield from an old-time focus on semiconductors.
The latest example of the maturing of Taiwan's startup scene is the mid-August acquisition by Taipei-based mobile Internet service GMobi of its long-term partner, mobile performance ad network MassiveImpact in Israel. Read Forbes post, Taiwan Techies
