Mary Meeker's latest Internet trends reports highlight India on the tipping point of becoming a major tech player up there next to China. See Meeker.

Alibaba-invested e-commerce company Baozun from Shanghai raised $110 million in a NASDAQ IPO but without the fanfare and lift of its lead investor. Baozun is the second Chinese technology company to list in NY in 2015. Beijing-based GroupOn like Wowo Ltd. raised $40 million in an IPO in April. Many Chinese companies have been opting to go public in China, capitalizing on the booming A share market. See Baozun.

Bangalore-based e-commerce site Flipkart has raised $550 million at a valuation of $15 billion, catapulting the Indian startup into a new league of most highly valued companies in the world. A comparable is China's smartphone maker Xiaomi, which raised $1.1 billion at a $45 billion market valuation in  December 2014. Read Flipkart.

One sign of the emerging tech scene in China can be found in the caliber of young entrepreneurs who are starting up new companies today. It's not just in the Internet, mobile communications and e-commerce space any longer but in deeper, core technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence. See China's core tech.
