The World's Four Top Tech Capitals To Watch
#1 Hong Kong
#2 Washington, DC
#3 Tel Aviv
# 4 London
A handful of tech hubs in the world are working overtime to follow in the footsteps of Silicon Valley. Forbes scoped out several world cities that are doing their best to earn their own "Silicon (something)" monikers. Forbes took a look at why these cities were inspiring techonomies, with an eye toward Hong Kong's prospective place among the very top tech hubs on the planet.
What makes the city worth watching is Hong Kong's perhaps unrealized potential. With a community of innovative and ambitious entrepreneurs on one side and a population of internationally traveled, wealthy tycoons on the other, Hong Kong could be a powder keg of a techonomy waiting to explode.

Can A Startup Culture Take Hold In Hong Kong?
I see the beginnings of a startup hub happening in Hong Kong - a good thing since Hong Kong has seemed destined to be left behind by the high energy found in the tech clusters of Beijing and Shanghai.
It can be difficult to name a successful tech startup from Hong Kong, home to real estate tycoons and investment bankers. But innovations from all kinds of startups - mobile gaming, clean energy, education, healthcare - are bubbling up.

 | Ritz-Carlton HK: still the world's tallest hotel? |
Kowloon has often been looked at as the other Hong Kong, the one that is on the wrong side of the proverbial tracks (or harbour in this case). But with the new upscale shopping centers and five-star hotels that have recently opened, coupled with a planned redevelopment of the old Kai Tak airport where planes used to fly in next to skyscrapers, Kowloon is looking up.
