Special thanks to The Hina Group
The Chinese wine we tasted was a Cabernet Sauvignon, Bordeaux blend that was transported from Xiangdu Winery in arid Xinjiang, China especially for this event. Our thanks to The Hina Group, a cross-border Chinese investment bank and private equity firm with interests in the wine business, for sharing this 2009 wine, a 7th vintage from a Chinese winery operated by Madame Li.
Special thanks to our artists
Painter Zhiyuan Cong for a display of Chinese ink and color paintings
Calligrapher Wei Zheng for providing our guests a Chinese character with their name and birth year
Musician Zifei Wang for playing a traditional Chinese bamboo flute
By invitation only and for our Silicon Dragon Circle members.

Can YEAR OF THE SNAKE
Really Also Mean
YEAR OF THE LITTLE DRAGON?
This 2013 year of Snake connotes steady progress and attention to detail. Focus and discipline are necessary to achieve success. The Snake is enigmatic, intuitive, introspective, refined and collected. Ancient Chinese wisdom says a Snake in the house is a good omen because it means that your family will not starve.
Of all the 12 zodiac animals, the snake most resembles the dragon in appearance. In fact, the snake is sometimes called the "little dragon" -- and special thanks to Sidley partner Xiaowen Qiu for pointing this out!
The Dragon is considered the most powerful and lucky of all the zodiac animals. Some of this aura rubs off onto the person born in the Year of the Snake.
Characteristics of People Born in the Year of Snake People born in the Year of the Snake are reputed to be thoughtful and wise and to approach problems rationally and logically, seldom instinctively. Such people are complex beings, they are clever and of few words from their birth. People born in the Year of the Snake also have a sure touch in money matters but are inclined to be greedy and somewhat egoistical. Snakes are also very insightful and naturally intuitive. If anyone has a sixth sense, it's those born in the Snake year. This is partly what makes them so mysterious.
