Cooking Matters classes matter to this family
John and Trisha are a family with a lot going on. Trisha works two jobs and manages to take night classes, as well as raise their two boys. John works full time but they are struggling to make ends meet and put food on the table. Even with their three jobs, they are having a hard time keeping up.
Last fall, John took our "Cooking Matters" classes and learned skills in the kitchen, as well as nutritional and economic advice when purchasing food. John took on the cooking classes tentatively, but with an open mind. Now, each time John or Trisha come to the food pantry, they remark at just how much of a difference it makes to have John able to prepare the kids meals with healthy, budget-friendly foods . Trisha gives a knowing smile and John will proudly state how relieved Trisha was when he could implement his kitchen skills to feed the kids when Trisha had night class!
