Mobile Market helps keep neighbors connected

As we near the end of the Mobile Market season, we'd like to take a moment to reflect on just why we run this program.  As of 9/30, we have provided 502 households (829 individuals) with 41,698 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables right outside their front doors at six different apartment complexes right here in Beverly.  This is over 20 tons of produce, so necessary to maintaining a healthy diet, that these residents might not otherwise be able to afford.

As an extra bonus, this program also keeps the neighbors at these complexes connected and gives them even more access to Beverly Bootstraps' many programs. For instance, this summer Connie* had been helping out her new neighbor, who didn't have access to transportation, by getting her ice for her cooler. The neighbor didn't have a working refrigerator. When Connie came to the Mobile Market, remembering all the ways we had helped her, she asked if we could help her neighbor too. Soon after a brand new fridge was delivered to this friend so she could store all the produce she got at Mobile Market.

Exciting news:

Thrift Shop Closing for Construction
This month, the Thrift Shop will be moving into its new 200 Rantoul Street section. To prepare for this move and to get set up in the new space, the Thrift Shop will be closed for a week starting Saturday, October 17, and re-opening at noon on Monday, October 26.

We ask that you save your donations and hold off on your shopping during this week and apologize for any inconvenience. Please also spread the word that we'll need lots of donations to fill this additional space.

Thank you!
