Summer Lunch Program Helps Beverly's Children _______________________________________
The Summer Lunch Program got off to a smooth start on Tuesday, June 30, and already we are seeing the positive effects this program has on the children of Beverly. With approximately 600 lunches served per day at 8 of the Beverly Recreation Department's Park Programs, plus Beverly High School, McPherson Teen Center, and the YMCA, we can feel good knowing that 600 children didn't go hungry that day.
A volunteer had this to say about his experience working at this program:
"It is so satisfying to see these children quietly take their lunches and hungrily eat. I've noticed one child in particular that always asks for a second meal. However, I finally realized, he wasn't eating the second lunch at all, but packing it away in his bag. When I nonchalantly asked him why, he said it was for his little brother who was hungry at home because he is too young to attend the Park Program."
Thank you to all who collaborate on and support this wonderful program.

Exciting News!

The Bump-Out Begins
We're so excited to be hearing shovels and jackhammers at work outside of the 35 Park Street building. If you drive by, you'll see the safety fence with lots of hard hat wearing workers inside doing what they do best -- creating the bump-out addition that will house our main entrance, an elevator and stairway, and an office.
Although this project has been underway for well over a year, it's gratifying to see the visible evidence of progress.

Delta Engineering Holds Food Drive
Thank you to Delta Electronics of Beverly who recently held a food drive for us. Not only did they collect 332 pounds of food, but also grocery store gift cards worth $260 and an additional $200 in cash!
Thank You to Beverly Public Schools For All They Do
So proud to be in a community that teaches their school age children about giving back. Just in the last month, we received so many wonderful donations. Briscoe Middle School held a read-a-thon that raised $500 for Beverly Bootstraps and also held a hat day. Hannah Elementary School encouraged their families to purchase school supplies on-line to be donated to the Back-to-School Bonanza back pack program. And North Beverly Elementary School collected healthy snacks to be shared with children in need over the summer.
Thank you to all the schools and their PTOs for helping all year long.
And Thank You To All The Private Schools Who Do So Much.
Among the many area private schools that lend a helping hand is Shore Country Day School, which takes giving back to the community to heart throughout the year. The most recent event they held in Beverly Bootstraps name was a book drive. They recently donated over 500 brand new books to be used throughout the agency from the After School Clubs to the babysitting room.
Harborlight-Stoneridge Montessori School recently held their Empty Bowls fundraiser at which guests can enjoy a humble meal of soup and bread cooked by the students and then purchase an empty bowl created by student-artists. Not only did the event raise awareness of the ongoing issue of hunger, but also it raised $800 that they generously donated to Beverly Bootstraps!
