Adult Education Celebrates Students on Their Road to Success
_______________________________________

On Thursday, June 4, Beverly Bootstraps held its annual Celebration of Excellence. All of our Adult Education students and their friends and families were invited to attend this event that celebrates their educational successes.

After a buffet dinner, guest speaker Rachel Lopez, a Beverly Bootstraps Adult Ed Alumni, gave a moving talk about her experiences and future success after participating in classes here.

Then, Julia Andrews,Education Supervisor, and Andrea Jones, Programs Director presented award certificates to each student. This year, there were 15 ESOL students, 1 Adult Literacy, 10 HiSET Test preparation, and 12 HiSET Diploma students honored. These HiSET Diploma students walked down the aisle in cap and gown to receive their awards, in true graduation style.

Our Adult Education students believe that furthering their education will put them on the road to success and we congratulate them for their hard work and perseverance.

Exciting News!
Demolition has begun.

After the long process of cleaning out the building, having a "yard sale" (ie: free, please take), and trashing the left overs, our new building is ready to begin its new life. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped!

We are happy to announce that we have hired BWK Construction who will transform this currently awkward combination of a former basement machine

shop, cafe, arts immersion space and many offices into one

cohesive building that Beverly Bootstraps will call home.

Demolition began the week of June 1st, and although renovations will take some time, we are excited that the process has begun.

To all that have supported this project to date, thank you so very much.

Thank You

Cell Signaling Awards Grant
Cell Signaling Technology's Community Donations committee awarded $5,000 to Beverly Bootstraps to assist our efforts to purchase
the HiSET Exam Prep software. This software will support our Adult Ed students in their efforts to practice and take the HiSET exam, which is now taken on a computer, by offering individualized education plans based on each student's greatest needs. Thank you Cell Signaling for supporting our students' hard work.

Prime Meats and Provisions Names the Best Smoker
Prime Meats and Provisions held a Smoke Off on May 30th to find the best meat smoker on the North Shore. The public was invited to come taste and vote for a small donation. The weather was hot and so was the competition but  Craig Boaman was chosen as the favorite for his pulled pork, brisket, chicken thighs and kielbasa. This event raised $700 for Beverly Bootstraps. Thank you to Prime Meats and Provisions, all the Smokers, and the public who attended this fun and tasty event!

Market Basket Food Drive Brings in over 1,900 Pounds of Food!
On Saturday, June 6 we held our first summer food drive at Market Basket in Danvers. During the summer months, while people are away on vacation, donations to our Food Pantry drop significantly. To make up for that we held a food drive outside the Market Basket entrances, asking shoppers to pick up a few extra items on their visit. Thanks to their generosity, we collected over 1,900 pounds of food to restock the Food Pantry shelves.
A big thanks goes out to Market Basket as well as Beverly Bank who's employees volunteered their time to host the food drive as well as sorted the food that was collected.
