Collaborating with our Community
| | |
Did you know whenever possible, Beverly Bootstraps collaborates with other organizations to strengthen the services provided to our clients?
Beverly Bootstraps is able to help our clients in a variety of ways that truly helps the community, but we do not serve Beverly and Manchester alone. We work with other organizations to better the lives of our clients, and encourage them to utilize all of the resources available in our community. There are many different groups that come to help Beverly Bootstraps with different projects and programs as well as collaborating with us to achieve a common goal of helping those in need in our community.
Organizations in the area have taken to helping in different ways, like the various local schools that volunteer and donate to Beverly Bootstraps. We work with NSCAP (North Shore Community Action Programs) to help our clients with EITC and heating assistance. We also collaborate with various housing developments in the city, like Beverly Housing, Apple Village, and Turtle Creek to deliver fresh produce through our Mobile Market. Our Case Management staff also play an active role in the Beverly Resource Group steering committee. The Beverly Resource Group is a collaboration of community partners who come together to discuss resources available, promote financial stability and improve the quality of life of low-income Beverly residents. And that is just to name a few of the organizations we work with! For a list of our Community Collaborations, click here.
Beverly Bootstraps is thankful for the help of our partners to better the lives of our clients. With the help of our donors and volunteers, our work truly becomes a community effort to help those in need.

Community Education Programs
We are happy to launch our Community Education Programs! These programs are for children in grades K-2, and grades 3-5. Children in K-2 will be reading a story called, Ordinary Mary's Extraordinary Deed by Emily Pearson, and learning about building community. Based on the story, the children will learn about how their small acts of goodness can truly change their community and the world. Grades 3-5 will be playing the Beverly Bootstraps Community Change game. This game is a great way for children to learn about the different expenses that adults face every month and how education and circumstances impact our lives. These Community Education Programs will help children understand what it means to be a community with those around us and why we help other people.

Northshoremen Barbershop Chorus Holds Benefit Concert for Beverly Bootstraps
In October, the Northshoremen Barbershop Chorus held a lovely concert to benefit Beverly Bootstraps. Admission to attend the concert was food to donate to their food drive, and/or a donation to Beverly Bootstraps. They were able to raise $500 and 295 pounds of food at the concert. We greatly appreciate those who came out to hear them sing, as well as support Beverly Bootstraps. It was a great evening!
A Successful Election Day Food Drive
Thank you to all who donated to our food drive that took place during this past Election Day. The food is greatly appreciated, so that we can begin filling our holiday bags in time for Thanksgiving. During the food drive over 1,000 pounds of food were brought into our pantry to help those in need. Again, thank you to all who brought food to the polls with them.
Debora Lunt Studio Hosts Book Signing
Chris Van Allsburg, author of The Misadventures of Sweetie Pie visited the Debora Lunt Studio in Beverly Farms to sign copies of his new book for children in the area. 5% of the evening's proceeds were donated to Beverly Bootstraps in loving memory of Lalie Clayman. We greatly appreciate the donated funds from the event and that Chris Van Allsburg and Debora Lunt Studio thought of Beverly Bootstraps!
Giving Back Gift Cards
Two young boys, Ben and Sam, just had a birthday party with all of their friends, and their mothers were trying to think of a way to give back to the community through this event. Ben and Sam asked their friends to bring gift cards for Beverly Bootstraps in lieu of birthday gifts for themselves.
The boys received gift cards valued at over $300 that they gave to Beverly Bootstraps to use in our Adopt-A-Family program during the holidays. Thank you, Ben and Sam, for thinking of others on your birthday!
