Did you know that the Back-to-School Bonanza has been supplying backpacks filled with school supplies to low-income children since 2001?
Sherry* is a single mother who has a son that just entered 6th grade at Briscoe Middle School. This was her third year participating in the Back-to-School Bonanza, and she also utilizes our Food Pantry, Mobile Market, and Adopt-A-Family Program. Working a seasonal job means that Sherry does not get paid when she is off for the summer, making it difficult to afford school supplies in the Fall. The Back-to-School Bonanza gives her the peace of mind that her son's backpack and school supplies are taken care of and she can use that money towards other expenses. Sherry is not the only one who loves the Back-to-School Bonanza! This year, Beverly Bootstraps was able to distribute 739 backpacks to children in need. Check out these great quotes from some of this year's recipients: "It's such a helpful program." "Beverly Bootstraps is really helpful to the community." "Helps pay the mortgage and medical bills." "We are very grateful for your help." "Beverly Bootstraps is the best! Thank you very much for all everyone does!"

Best of the North Shore Event Gives Back
NorthShore Magazine hosted their first BONS Event on August 27th to showcase a variety of the best vendors on the North Shore. Beverly Bootstraps was the beneficiary of the proceeds raised from selling raffle tickets at the event, as well as some generous donations. In total over $2,100 was raised on behalf of Beverly Bootstraps to support our programs. The winner of the raffle, Lynda DiCarlo of West Peabody, won a beautiful basket full of goodies contributed by the 2014 BONS Winners! We are very thankful for NorthShore Magazine including us in such a wonderful night.
Landmark School Donates Car Wash Funds
A group of students from Landmark were given the opportunity to initiate a community service project and decided to hold a car wash. They conducted the whole process and were able to choose a charity of their choice. The students decided to bring the money to Beverly Bootstraps because we serve people right here in Beverly and Manchester and they can see the impact of our organization. We thank the students of Landmark for thinking of us and donating to us!

How To Help During the Holidays
| |
A way to help Beverly Bootstraps during the holiday season is to host a drive for us. Organizing a food drive is a simple and easy way to stock the Food Pantry shelves. Food Drives can be large or small, one-time, or on-going. Another option is to host a fund drive. Beverly Bootstraps relies on the community to support its very important programs and always appreciates financial donations. Or to help keep the racks at our Thrift Shop full, run a stuff drive.
We encourage the very young to make greeting cards that we share with families that receive food from us.
School groups or community organizations can also take advantage of our new Community Education Program. To Host a Drive of any kind or for more information on our Community Education Program, please contact our Annual Giving Coordinator, Elise D'Adamo.
