To Our Friends & Neighbors
Succeeding in Homework Club

Did you know that all of our youth tutors are volunteers who spend one-on-one or one-on-two time with our after-school students?

Beverly Bootstraps offers two after-school programs that focus on meeting the educational needs of low-income children in the Beverly community. These two programs, the Homework Club and Cyber Cafe, provide a safe and supportive environment for the children to thrive in. The elementary and middle school students are encouraged to help each other, as well as seek help from volunteer tutors in order to succeed academically. Our volunteers help to ensure that each student is excelling in their school work.

The students gain confidence in themselves as they progress in our programs with the encouragement they are given.
According to our Youth Coordinator, when they achieve higher grades, they have fewer behavioral problems and are more productive in the classroom. Many of the students have become better at handing in their homework on time and their teachers have remarked on their improvements.

The children greatly appreciate the time and effort put in by our volunteers. When the children were asked what their favorite thing about Beverly Bootstraps was, they all said it was their tutors. They know that without them, the after-school program would not be possible and that their grades and study habits would not have improved as much as they have. Our volunteers are able to inspire the children to challenge themselves and reach beyond their expectations.

Local Schools Host Food Drives

Students from Shore Country Day School's fifth grade class sort food that they donated to our Food Pantry through their food drive in May.
Several schools in the area donated over 2,000 pounds of food in the month of May. Each school held a food drive and collected donations from their local communities to benefit our Food Pantry. This food will help many individuals and families in need throughout Beverly and Manchester. The participating schools who collected, Glen Urquhart School, Shore Country Day School, Endicott College, and Beverly High School. Thank you to all those schools for their hard work!

Bracelets for a Cause

For a project in his seventh grade class, Lyndon Silver had to raise money for a local charity, and he chose Beverly Bootstraps as the beneficiary. He decided to make bracelets and sell them to friends and family in order to raise money. Lyndon raised $50 for Beverly Bootstraps. We are grateful to Lyndon and thank him for thinking of Beverly Bootstraps for his project!

Young Bakers Give to Food Pantry

Claire Stankiewicz and Kate Gray from Marblehead Veterans Middle School decided to tackle the issues of hunger and homelessness for their Do Something project. After doing their research about the subject, they decided to use the funds that they raised through their bake sale to buy food for the Beverly Bootstraps Food Pantry. Claire and Kate were able to buy over 40 pounds of food for our Food Pantry through the donations raised from their bake sale. We are thankful to Claire and Kate for giving back to Beverly Bootstraps with such a great project!

Thank You North Shore United Way

Beverly Bootstraps recently received $40,000 from North Shore United Way for our Annual Campaign. $35,000 will go towards Case Management so that we can support the needs of our clients who come to us seeking help. $5,000 will go towards our EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) program which helps clients prepare their income tax refund and maximize their returns. Last year, 185 Beverly families received $81,000 in EITC tax refunds through this program, allowing them to pay bills and buy food and other necessities. We are very grateful for the continued support from the North Shore United Way.
