Thrift Shop Voucher Program
| |
Did you know the Beverly Bootstraps Thrift shop is able to provide clothing and housewares, through our voucher program, to those in need of assistance?
Our Thrift Shop is not only a retail store, but also a place where those in need can access clothing and household items that they would otherwise not be able to afford. Beverly Bootstraps Thrift Shop Voucher program is part of the many services available through our Case Management Team. Those in need of this type of assistance would meet with a Case Manager who will work with them to assess their individual needs and develop a plan of action for how Beverly Bootstraps can offer assistance in the most effective way. For a single mother who may be struggling to provide for herself and her children, the voucher program can be a great way to ensure that the family has access to clothing and household items when they truly have no other resources available.
The Thrift Shop Voucher program is also a great resource for individuals and families who have experienced a sudden traumatic event, such as a fire or flood, that has caused them to lose their home and belongings. In these events, Beverly Bootstraps often partners with agencies like the American Red Cross, who can provide immediate assistance at the time of the event and then refers those affected to Beverly Bootstraps for assistance with acquiring needed clothing and housewares as they start to reestablish their home.
In addition, to providing those in need with direct assistance, the Beverly Bootstraps Thrift Shop is a vital program to our organization and mission. The shop provides donors a place to donate used household and clothing items, that are then resold to the public. and the profits go right back into the organization to help fund all of our programs and services. Whether you are living on a budget, love to find a great bargain or really like the idea of "re-use, recycle or re-purpose," the Thrift Shop is a great place to donate and shop for quality items that are unique and interesting.
All donations to our thrift shop are greatly appreciated. Your support in this way allows us to continue to help those in need in our community.

Exciting News!

More Fresh Produce Coming to Beverly Bootstraps
Summer will soon be here and so will fresh produce. With the start of the gardening season upon us, we are very excited about two new partnerships that will increase the amount of fresh produce available to those visiting both our Food Pantry and Mobile Markets.
The Boston Area Gleaners will be working with area farms to "glean" produce that is often left in the fields after the farms have harvested what they can use for the season. This food is then donated to local food pantries, Beverly Bootstraps being one, to help provide fresh produce to low-income individuals and families who otherwise would not have access or could not afford the high costs.
We are also very excited to announce that Food Project is now overseeing the community garden plot located on Cole Street. With the knowledge that the Food Project brings about gardening, more fresh produce will be grown for our Food Pantry.
For more information about the Boston Area Gleaners, click here, and for more information about obtaining a garden plot through the Food Project, please contact info@thefoodproject.org or call 781-346-6726.

Eagle Scout Donates Generator and Shed
Zack Armand recently completed his Eagle Scout project and chose Beverly Bootstraps as the beneficiary. Zack raised money to purchase a generator for us as well as designed and managed the construction and painting of a shed for the generator. Because Beverly Bootstraps can have a large amount of produce and meat products stored in on-site refrigerators and freezers, a power outage would cause food spoilage and waste. We are thankful for Zack's hard work and dedication so that in case of emergency, our food is safe.
Heritage Salem Five Charitable Foundation Gives Grant for Youth and Families
Heritage Salem Five Charitable Foundation has generously awarded to Beverly Bootstraps a $5,000 grant to use for our Youth and Family programs. The grant can be used towards our after school homework clubs, sending children to local summer camps, as well as the Back-to-School Bonanza and the Adopt a Family programs. These programs help ease the financial stress of after school care, summer camps, school supplies and holiday gifts for low-income families. Thank you Heritage Salem Five Charitable Foundation for your continued support.
Greater Beverly Chamber of Commerce & Henry's Market Gift of Food Centerpieces
We want to thank the Greater Beverly Chamber of Commerce and Henry's Market for their recent donation of food bags. The food bags, filled with a variety of food items, served as the centerpieces at the recent Legislative Breakfast and were then donated to Beverly Bootstraps. We greatly appreciate their generosity and thoughtfulness for the bags of food as well as the clever idea! The food will greatly help those in our community who come to our Food Pantry in need of food assistance.

Stamp Out Hunger
Food Drive
| |
WOW! 3,668 lbs of food was donated to our Food Pantry on Saturday from the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. We had a great group of volunteers from Auburn International in Danvers, who helped sort and organize all of the wonderful donations. What an amazing community we live in! Thank you for your generosity. Please share the news so we can thank our neighbors, too.
