New Changes in Adult Education with the HiSet Exam
Did you know that the GED test is being replaced by the HiSet exam and that Beverly Bootstraps is proactively channeling our efforts to help our students pass this exam?

nullAdult Education is changing and Beverly Bootstraps is taking part. There is a new test replacing the GED (High School Equivalency Exam) , called  HiSet. This new test is more in sync with the Common Core Standards and has been adopted by 40 states. Massachusetts stopped offering the GED exam in December of 2013 and is expected to start offering HiSet exams in March or April.

The HiSet exam, has increased the expected amount of knowledge that a student will need for specific subject vocabulary and terminology. Due to this change, Beverly Bootstraps is adapting to make sure that our students can succeed with this new challenge in the test.  This will require additional tutoring time as well as introducing computer training, as the new exam will only be administered electronically.

Beverly Bootstraps is closely following the actions made by the state so that we are able to provide a smooth transition for our students.

Exciting News!
Renew the Old at our Thrift Shop!

Refinish, Re-purpose, Re-tool, Recycle! The Thrift Shop is looking for people to spruce up their items. Starting March 3rd, you may go into the store and find an item that needs a little T.L.C. and give it some life. Find creative new purposes for regular household items, or make something unique even more special! You will have until late April to perfect your creation and bring it back to our store. These refurbished items will then be on display in the Thrift Shop front window and will then be judged later this spring.  The items will then be available for purchase through a Silent Auction at the shop later this Spring. Contact Jackie or Lisa at the Thrift Shop for more information at 978.921.4710.

Thank You

On January 11, 2014, Mayor Mike Cahill held an Inaugural Ball to celebrate his being sworn in as mayor. The event was held in at the Danversport Yacht Club. Generously, Cahill and his committee donated the net proceeds, $2,355, to Beverly Bootstraps. We are extremely grateful for the support of the Mayor and those who attended the ball. The proceeds will benefit all of our programs offered to those in need in Beverly and Manchester-by-the-Sea.

And another thank you to those who placed ads in our Program Book:
