Milestones June 7, 2016

Good morning,
It is always so much fun to see your children learning and growing up through music. Just a couple of weeks ago, I saw a one-year-old take his first step without holding on to Mom!
It is a pleasure to get to celebrate your little ones reaching these important milestones! The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has a helpful checklist and informational guide for children 0-5 years old and the developmental milestone markers to note at various ages. This guide also offers suggestions of red flags to be aware of that may indicate a developmental delay in a particular area of development. Although this provides a great guideline for development, not all children develop at the same rate. If your child does not hit one of these milestones, don't panic!
This checklist is great for having discussions with your doctor about your child's development and when your child may need some additional supports such as early intervention. Like I said in last week's email, children ages 0-3 are forming 700 new neural connections per second, making it a pivotal time for learning. It is always better to act early if you think your child has a possible developmental delay. Ask your Sprouting Melodies Provider if you have questions or concerns on your child's development.

We will be performing at this year's annual Basket and Blanket Family Concert Series at the Melrose Public Library on Tuesday, June 21st at 6PM. Be sure to mark your calendar!
