Good morning,
One thing that I always say in class is, "the more you sing, move, play, and have fun, the more fun your baby will have, and the more they will get out of the class." Last year, Elizabeth Schwartz wrote a blog about moving with your child and the positive effect it can have on both them and you. She also shared a bit about some new research that supports this. Last week, I was talking with a parent who is in their first Sprouting Melodies class about how important it is to share in the music with your child so that they can learn from you. Your voice is a comfort to them, and the more you sing in class, the better you will remember the songs when you go home. Singing these songs at home can help not only with trust and comfort in class, but can also be a great tool to make transitions such as bath time, bed time, diaper changes, and getting into the car seat much more enjoyable and smooth for you and your child. Below is a link to Elizabeth's blog and video for a new Sprouting Melodies Sing at Home called "Here With Me!" This song has a great bouncing melody for you and your child to practice moving together. I'll see you in class! ~Kristina Kristina Barbo, MT-BC Board Certified Music Therapist Roman Music Therapy Services, LLC 423 Main St., Melrose, MA 02176 781-665-0700 Office [email protected] www.romanmusictherapy.com
